accepted Emory students fall 2009

Published

I have just been accepted to the Emory BSN nursing program for fall 2009 and I just wanted to know if other accepted students would like us to communicate and help each other prepare for the fall. We can discuss anything from immunization, PDA, housing to financial aid.

I would also like current student and alumni to mentor us in order to make our preparation smoother. Any advice is welcome since you've been there before from what type of stethoscope to which brand of PDA to buy.

I am a very meticulous person and would like every thing to go perfectly that is why I need all the advice that I can get so that come August, we would all be ready and prepared for the challenging two years ahead of us.

Thanks to all who will join the group and to all who will advise us.

Really appreciated.

Hi ImGonnaKnockUOut!

I applied for the service cancellation loan, but I was put on a waiting list. I just believe that I will get that and NEAT though.

Did you have to apply for it separately?

Did you have to apply for it separately?

Yes, you have to get in touch with financial aid to let them know that you want the Service Cancelable Loan. They will take your name and student number and put you on the waiting list. From what I've heard the wait is kind of short.

Thanks so much! I will definitely do that!

Have you heard anything about what our school schedule will look like?

No not yet. Back to the dreaded waiting again...financial aid wait...NEAT wait...class schedule wait...:chuckle Maybe Jessica can give us an idea of what our first weeks will look like.

Hi Emory students, I too am so worried about financial aid and getting this all paid for, I am not sure that I will be able to get private loans, and my EFC is over $10000 according to my fasfa. So I was reading about the service canceable loans, is there someone in particular in the financial aid offive that I would have to speak to to get my name on that list, and how does it differ from the NEAT? Also has anyone heard about having to take an A&P test before the term begins, a friend of a friend told me that there is such a test .

Hey Trish,

When you call the financial aid office, let them know that you are inquiring about the Service Cancelable Loan. They will direct you to the person you need to speak to based on your last name. After that, they will put you on this list. The NEAT pays 50% of tuition and requires a service committment. The loan forgives up to 4k of your current loans per semester, but there is also a service committment, I'm just not sure how long it is.

I attended the information session back in October and the current students did say that there was an A&P test that we had to take, but it's just to let us know the areas we need to brush up on, it's not counted for a grade.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the information. I see that there is a student on here that attended Emory last year, I have so many questions, I don't know where to start...I am so worried that I will not be able to afford Emory, but also will be completely bumed if I am not able to attend!

This is a hard month for a lot of us. I hope we can feel better after April 1st.
