accepted Emory students fall 2009

Published

I have just been accepted to the Emory BSN nursing program for fall 2009 and I just wanted to know if other accepted students would like us to communicate and help each other prepare for the fall. We can discuss anything from immunization, PDA, housing to financial aid.

I would also like current student and alumni to mentor us in order to make our preparation smoother. Any advice is welcome since you've been there before from what type of stethoscope to which brand of PDA to buy.

I am a very meticulous person and would like every thing to go perfectly that is why I need all the advice that I can get so that come August, we would all be ready and prepared for the challenging two years ahead of us.

Thanks to all who will join the group and to all who will advise us.

Really appreciated.

That is the problem. I called around and it is hard to find a place that will take the titers. I know takecare won't. I called and asked.

Oh wow! I was thinking that you may have had your tithers drawn for your prereqs but come to think of it I don't think I did either. Did you try calling the immunization nurse at Emory?

If you have questions about the immunization requirements, you may call our Immunization Nurse at (404) 727-0392.

I went and had my physical yesterday and had my titers done, but it will be a week before the results come back.

Has anybody taken the A & P test yet? How was it. When is the last date to take it?

I'm going to wait until they tell us we have to do it since its not on the checklist. I think the main thing we have to work on is the Medical Math which we have to print out and bring to orientation. Did you or anybody else get that book and start working on it?

No not yet. I am taking Med Micro, Human Growth and economics this summer so I am kinda busy. However, the summer semester ends on the 30th of July so I can move to my new place near Emory and start concentrating on the things I have to do

I have began working on it. I find it easy, but I also find math to be enjoyable. My mom teaches this stuff, so maybe I can help someone if they are having a hard time with a concept.

Word of warning for any Mac user who hasn't gotten the book: I work exclusively on Macs and there is not a Mac version of this CD. You will need to get Parallels or Boot Camp or something to complete the modules.

Well, went to decatur to get my uniform and lab coat. Forgot to get the jacket. Still searching for a very, very comfortable shoe so if anybody has any ideas. I also got all my books, compared my prices with the emory bookstore prices and mine was cheaper. Anyway, went to www.cheapesttextbooks.com. It gives you all the cheapest prices all over and you get to choose.

I hear Dansko shoes are very comfortable. I want to try on the Nursemates as well. Did they have any shoes at the uniform store? I also found some pretty good textbook deals on campusbooks.com as well as bestbookdeal.com.

I was just wondering if some of the former students or just graduated students can tell us which type of digital voice recorder they were using. I remember when we went for the visitation day, (classroom session) one of the students told us that it was very, very important but I couldn't get the exact type. It had mp3 and could be connected like flash drive on to the computer. Anyway, if anybody has any ideas please share

Hey Everyone!

I was told by Andrea that the A&P pre test will be done at orientation. So don't worry about submitting anything online.

Just some quick input...getting the vaccinations again is cheaper than all the titers. And after your immunizations are done, Emory will do the titers for free if you are on their insurance. Also...I have a pair of the danskos...hated them. No ankle support whatsoever and twisted my ankle twice while wearing them. I got some new balance cross trainers in white. I am flat footed and my feet never hurt at the end of a 12 hour clinical.
