accepted Emory students fall 2009

Published

I have just been accepted to the Emory BSN nursing program for fall 2009 and I just wanted to know if other accepted students would like us to communicate and help each other prepare for the fall. We can discuss anything from immunization, PDA, housing to financial aid.

I would also like current student and alumni to mentor us in order to make our preparation smoother. Any advice is welcome since you've been there before from what type of stethoscope to which brand of PDA to buy.

I am a very meticulous person and would like every thing to go perfectly that is why I need all the advice that I can get so that come August, we would all be ready and prepared for the challenging two years ahead of us.

Thanks to all who will join the group and to all who will advise us.

Really appreciated.

I think as long as the series is started you will be okay.

When are you all going to begin faxing the lab preference sheet? I want to do it soon so that I can secure my picks.

I'm gonna fax mine over today. I'm not a morning person at all so I would HATE to have 7am labs!

LaBrittany,

What times did you choose?

My first choice for health assesment is Wednesday at 10 and my first choice for skills lab is at 12:30.

My 1st choice is 10:00 for health assessment too and for lab I chose 9:30. I am not an early riser so theses times are perfect for me.

As long as you have began your Hep B series, it will be fine according to Andrea Clark in Admissions.

I'm so glad to hear that! Thanks Erin! Who did you order your dosage calculation book through?

I ordered it through Amazon.

Did anybody realize that if you have actually had Chicken pox, the disease, you may STILL have to have the vaccine? Found this out while talking to Andrea yesterday.

Hey Erin! It's no biggie! My doctor's office would not administer any shots until they tested my blood for tithers. If you had the chickenpox you more than likely have the tithers. I had the chickenpox when I was a kid and my husband got them as an adult when I was 7 weeks pregnant. My doctors weren't concerned about my exposure because I already had them.

What sucks for me is I can get into my doctors office now to get my shots but I have to wait 3 months before they can give me for a physical! I guess I'm going to have to go to MinuteClinic or TakeCare to have it done.
