I have just been accepted to the Emory BSN nursing program for fall 2009 and I just wanted to know if other accepted students would like us to communicate and help each other prepare for the fall. We can discuss anything from immunization, PDA, housing to financial aid.
I would also like current student and alumni to mentor us in order to make our preparation smoother. Any advice is welcome since you've been there before from what type of stethoscope to which brand of PDA to buy.
I am a very meticulous person and would like every thing to go perfectly that is why I need all the advice that I can get so that come August, we would all be ready and prepared for the challenging two years ahead of us.
Thanks to all who will join the group and to all who will advise us.
Really appreciated.
Thanks Light for posting that information. It is overwhelming! I missed the anatomy test too! Oh well! I'm taking two classes this summer and I can't wait to finish them. Do we have to purchase the Unbound Medicine subscription from them? Its the same price if you buy it directly. Also been checking out Half.com trying to find discounted books.
I have been checking half.com too as well as amazon, some of the books at amazon are cheaper. I wonder if we can get them even cheaper from the seniors. Maybe, I can start a new thread for current nursing students who are soon to be seniors who would want to sell their books.
Any ideas? I am all for discounts and used books so let me know your ideas.
You have Nsg 350 at these times. Our schedule is a follows:
Mon: 8- 9:50 = 360 Clinical Nsg I
10- 11:50= 370 Prof. Dev't I
1-2:50= 380 Health assessment
Tue: 10-12:50 = 360 Clinical nsg I
2-3:50= 350 Integ. Sci.
Wed: 1-2:50= 350 1-2:50
Thurs & Fri are skills labs that you can choose which time you want
Also, there is a health assessment lab that you can choose a time for.
BTW, I found the A & P tests and couldn't take them yet. Has anyone actually taken them?
I went to another location (closer to where I live. You can go to any uniform store and they should have them.) and tried on the different brand and style numbers provided. Then, I called the location in decatur (which has an acct. with Emory and gives the 20% discount) at 404- 370-0993 and ordered it.
All together it was $46.62 for 1. I may get another later (my parents have offered to buy one for me. I don't know if the offer still stands).
I did not get a lab coat. I kind of wanted to see what kind of lab coat everyone else got b/c they didn't give specs for it.
I went on Amazon and pseudo-ordered books, just to see how much it would come to. I found all but two (~ $45 worth) and the total was $536 w/ free shipping.
I DID order the dosage calc. book on amazon. It should arrive on wednesday. I have a road trip this next week that will be perfect for dosage calc. studying.
Fade to Black...

Oh. Well I guess I missed it. I was looking at the checklist of things to do... Well that's one more thing to add to my personal to-do list for the summer. One day at a time, right? :)
