accepted Emory students fall 2009

Published

I have just been accepted to the Emory BSN nursing program for fall 2009 and I just wanted to know if other accepted students would like us to communicate and help each other prepare for the fall. We can discuss anything from immunization, PDA, housing to financial aid.

I would also like current student and alumni to mentor us in order to make our preparation smoother. Any advice is welcome since you've been there before from what type of stethoscope to which brand of PDA to buy.

I am a very meticulous person and would like every thing to go perfectly that is why I need all the advice that I can get so that come August, we would all be ready and prepared for the challenging two years ahead of us.

Thanks to all who will join the group and to all who will advise us.

Really appreciated.

okay, still nothing for me.

Are you serious? You should give them a call.

I called the financial aid office and the person who answered looked at my account. She was very concerned because it SHOULD be showing up. She said to talk to my advisor. Okay, I have emailed Jennifer Lyles, my supposed advisor that I have never talked to. I have called her and left a message. I STILL have nothing showing up on OPUS.

Talk about frustrating!!

Where is everyone!!!

Ok, so has anyone recieved an e-mail saying the financial aid awarded was wrong? Well I did, and now I am kinda confused and stressed cos it said something like reducing the amount or whatever.

I am planning on going to the financial aid office on friday to see my advisor since I never seem to get her in person and I am always leaving messages on her answering machine.

No...I didn't get that email.

But....I am so glad the semester if finally over!!!!!! Thank Heavens!!:dncgcpd:Whose with me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

so how is everyone doing?

So I went to the financial aid office and it has been sorted. Also, back for the summer semester to complete my remaining 10 credit hours.

Is anyone going to living on campus?

Hey Odooma,

I don't think that I am going to be living on campus, because I am just a little too old to live in undergrad housing, but we are not technically allowed to live in graduate housing unless we are grad students. So...I am planning on living off campus, but very close to campus. I have been looking in the Virginia Highlands, Druid Hills, Candler Park, Edgewood, and Kirkwood neighborhoods at one bedrooms and houses/apartments if I could find some roommates. I am not from Atlanta, so an advice on where to live (and not to live!) would be appreciated! What is everyone else thinking about for housing (esp those relocating to Atlanta)?

Hope everyone is doing well! I can't wait to meet all of you in the Fall!

Abby

I'm not going to be living on campus either because I lived on campus for one semester as an undergrad and hated it. I vowed to never do it again because it was such a terrible experience for me. lol Therefore, I've been using ProMove to find an apartment off-campus. I've narrowed my selection down to places in Buckhead and Druid Hills. I also saw some nice places on Craigslist. I'm actually going to Atlanta in 2 weeks to look at some places and hopefully sign a lease. I'll probably move down around August 1st because I don't have a job or anything to occupy my time this summer and I'd like to have enough time to familiarize myself with the city.

On another note, I finally feel like I'm starting to get somewhere with preparing for school! I was approved for my private loan (YAY!), I've made plans for the CPR training, and I have a good idea on where I'm gonna live! Now if only they'd send all the information on the physical exam and immunizations.... I'm so excited! I can't wait until August!

This is another place that helps in finding housing. I will be living with my husband, dog, and cat, off-campus.

Well I am 33 and I live on campus where I am taking my prerequisites. I love it. I am on the Emory housing waiting list so I don't know whether I am getting in or not. I bet it would be nice living very close to the campus. I only pay $450 per month for 12 months and I have my own room but share a kitchen and living room with 3 others. But Emory charges $3,620 per semester which is very expensive. Also, I checked other apartments and they are expensive. Would anyone like a room mate? I wouldn't mind living off campus as long as it is not far away from the college. As long as it affordable. I am not a trouble maker and since we will be pursuing the same major, I think we can be study buddies.

Anyone interested?

Hey Everyone!!!

Does anyone know if there will be a test that we must pass before we graduate? I'm talking about something along the lines of the HESI.
