:welcome: Hi everyone! I thought it might be a good idea to get our own separate thread for those accepted to Columbia ETP! Sure we have a lot to discuss!
I would also like to invite current students to this topic to share your experiences and answer some questions.
Here is one question that is really bothering me.
I have been working and studying simultaneously for the past 4 years, and to tell the truth I am really tired. Will financial help from Columbia (both scholarship and loans) allow me to only study? In particular, how much money do they give every month for living expenses? If you feel uncomfortable writing about it in public, personal messages are welcome too
Aside from this, - congrats to all those accepted and really looking forward to meeting you! :balloons:
Oh, by the way, I am Women's Health! What about you?
Hey everyone,
I created a group on facebook.com for the ETP program... kind of a get to know you before orientation and the actual Columbia facebook comes out (plus I'm procrastinating on my current school work) :)

Hi Cozzy. This is a good idea. I'm not sure if you're aware but the SON department at Columbia is setting up Facebook accounts for everyone that puts down their $500 deposit.

The facebook that the SON does has nothing to do with the website facebook.com. It's just your photo, uni, interests, specialty, etc... with some info about yourself that is uploaded into a password protected portion of the columbia SON website.
ps. great idea starting up the facebook.com group!

Can anyone pass on the url for the SON students website? I can't seem to find it anywhere. This is the one that you need the username and password to access. THANKS
Hi Everyone,
I have a question for any current ETP students that might be reading this. After the first year is over do you get the summer months off and start the MS phase in the fall or do you immediately jump into it in the summer semester?
Also, when do they require you to take the NCLEX?
Thanks!
does anybody know when we get housing information? I called like a couple weeks ago and they said they'll be mailed out sometime in March, but it's almost April and I'm getting anxious! especially since we're going to be starting in 2 months (scary!) I'd like to know if I can get on campus housing, otherwise I'll have to look for an apartment. And for those who went to visitor's day, can you give me more details about the dorm? Are they nice, are the rooms ok sized or really tiny, is there a cafeteria inside, etc? anything would be helpful!

If you continue full-time you don't get the summer off, for most of the part-time programs you can choose to take the summer or the fall off. You need to take the NCLEX before you start your clinicals which will be the fall for most of the full-time programs.

Hi NrsCA- I'm from CA and I am debating between schools too. Like I said in an earlier post, I will probably put the deposit down and see what happens from there. I attended the info session and the dorms aren't that bad- there are single rooms and co-ed shared bathrooms. I'm thinking of living in the dorms for the summer. Anyway:welcome:!
