Has anyone recieved one???? Ive applied to U of P and a few others but the wait is killing me!!!!! I recieved a letter RE: providence scholarship Interview and i was lucky to recieve one!! but i havent heard from U of P yet

so just wondering about others, let me know and GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Thanks for the clarification! Still though, that seems a little high. If its 400 dollars a paycheck, twice a month for 2 and a half years, that still comes out to about 24000 dollars. Assuming the scholarship is worth about 75,000 and the income tax rate is about 9%, then it should be more in the neighborhood of 6 to 8000 dollars of total taxes. Sorry if I seem like i'm belaboring the issue, its just the one major aspect of this scholarship i'm worried about. I'm at UW right now and waiting to hear back from the SON, and i'm trying to decide which deal would be better. Of course, I would have to get the scholarship first! Do you (or does anybody) know how many they are giving out this year? Has their endowment for the program improved since last year with the economy?

As far as the taxes go its only around 7500 you end up paying in total over three years, (from what ive heard), when your co-worker mentioned she was paying 700ish in taxes bi weekly did she say that was the total or what was just towards the scholarship. If you take into account her own takes and add two hundred per check so a total of 400 for the month i believe you will get a more accurate estimation... could be wrong

I'll ask her more questions tomorrow, she's new to our department so I haven't known her for that long; therefore I haven't wanted to be annoying and pick her brain to no end....but trust me, I'd like to!!! :)

I wish I knew how many scholarships they are giving out, let's just hope it's more than last year!

How many did they give out last year?

I heard it was about twenty last year, although I don't remember exactly where I got that number from--I think it was somewhere on this board. I believe I also read that that number was the result of both the economy and wanting to wait for some of the current scholarship holders to graduate. Hopefully it's gone up since then, I think they used to give out 75 each year!

Hello Everyone!

I also applied to UP too and was wondering if anyone has got a letter today? This waiting is killing me!!! Good luck to you all!!!

Nothing here either.....:uhoh3:

Nor here, although we've already established that I am the last to receive things. :D

I called today and she said they will most likely be sent out tomorrow or within the week when she finished doing all the letters. She told me she had the list in front of her if I wanted to know so naturally I said yes...

Turns out I had an incomplete application :/ I had everything in (transcripts from university, recommendations, etc) but I took a class at PCC and they were a few days off postmarking the transcript even though I made the request during spring break... i guess the office wasn't running for awhile. SO UP is out =|

I thought they couldnt tell you over the phone in case it wasnt you or something. No one offered when I called! lol Do you know who you talked to?

yeah!! i was a little sketchy cause i was like "i can totally use someone else's name and see if they got in..." but oh well.

i don't remember the name actually :| i was hoping that the call might be a hoax but i checked with pcc and they have records of it being sent out the same day that the lady told me.

good luck to everyone else!!
