Has anyone recieved one???? Ive applied to U of P and a few others but the wait is killing me!!!!! I recieved a letter RE: providence scholarship Interview and i was lucky to recieve one!! but i havent heard from U of P yet ![]()
so just wondering about others, let me know and GOOD LUCK!!!!!
I just got an e-mail back from the woman I e-mailed at UP....and I have an interview!!! Apparently I *was* sent that e-mail on Monday, but I've checked all my folders (including spam) and I have no idea why it never arrived. I wish I lived in-state, as my redeye flight won't arrive until 12:30am and my interview's decently early....but hey, just thankful to have an interview, so I'm not complaining!
As for prereqs, I will have all mine done by March 25th, except for General Bio, which I'm planning to CLEP out of, and Theology, which like many of you I'm planning to take there. I think you're okay as long as you have a plan for completing everything before the program starts.
Maybe I'll get to meet some of you in a couple of weeks!
Thank you!!! Sakara and GVTA, I much appreciate your efforts to keep me from going insane yesterday. :) I only applied to UP this year (and can only attend if I receive one of these scholarships, because I'm already in debt from my first degree!), but if this doesn't work out, I'm planning to wait a year in Portland to get residency (since the fiance and I have been planning to move there anyway) and then apply to OHSU's accBach program.
deasiac: CLEP is "College-Level Examination Program," it's through CollegeBoard. It's basically a computerized, proctored test you take that often gives you college credit. It's meant to allow people who have life experience or otherwise non-classroom-based knowledge to skip introductory level classes that they don't really need. I already CLEP'd out of Human Growth and Development for UP (and OHSU if I end up going that route) and it saved me class time and textbook costs! Kind of wish I'd known about it sooner....I had no idea how many colleges accept it.
Transfer program--I looked at the AEM program, but I wasn't really interested in the master's degrees they offered. (I'd like to pursue trauma nursing eventually.) So guess I'll add a BS to my BA, haha! Have you been around CA much? I'm down in the SF Bay Area, near San Jose. Nice area, but waaaay expensive!!!
