Acceptance Letters? MGH Direct-Entry Master's in Nursing

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Hello!

Does anyone know when acceptance letters will be mailed out for the MGH d-e master's in nursing program? I know it's only been 3 weeks since the January 10th deadline, but I'm sure I'm not the only one biting my nails in the interim. :) I've looked through a few similar threads from a few years ago-- most students seemed to receive letters in early March, but who knows whether their program deadlines were the same. Thought I'd ask the question to get some discussion going. Hope all of us hear back soon! Good luck, everyone!

YAY!!! So we all got in!?!! Congratulations everyone! This is great!! So excited to meet everyone on Apil 9th, we'll have to tell each other our names on here haha.

I think the question from Nat Sta was directed toward me? Not sure but thank you!!! I chose Family on my application but they offered me Adult/Gero and I accepted. Are you waiting to hear back? Good luck!!

I'm still waiting... I guess I didn't get in!

danadana: Me too. Looks like I'm going on that cruise after all.

Congrats to everyone who got accepted.

I'm nervous too, I went from being really excited to really nervous. And the financial aid thing is something I'm afraid to even think about! Has anyone already filled out FAFSA?

Also, are those accepted definitely going to go to MGH?

Keep your fingers crossed! They might not have sent out all the e-mails/letters yet and there's a wait-list and some people have top choices other than MGH! Stay positive! (Sorry about all the back-to-back posts!!)

I can answer any financial aid questions you might have. I'm the queen of financial aid. (Have a bachelors, masters, and now taking pre-nursing pre-requisites.)

For those who don't know...

Go online and apply for federal student aid through the FAFSA. There is a cap to how much federal graduate student aid you can take, which I believe (unless it changed very recently) is $138,000. This amount is a lifetime cap.

The MGH DEN program I think is around $34,000 a year. If you go full-time, you will need to take extra money out for living expenses, as I expect you may not be able to work (with the exception of the summer time.)

If you reach your cap in the amount that the federal government will lend you, you can also supplement aid by applying for a private loan through a bank. If you go to any bank or financial institution website, you will most likely find a link for Educational Loans. PNC, Citizens, and Chase are good places to start.

These lenders will let you know almost instantly if you've been approved by running a brief credit check online after you submit your application. If your credit isn't great or doesn't really exist, I would apply with a co-signer.

That just about covers it. Let me know if there are other questions!

Thanks for keeping the faith alive, HugANurse- I'm just so disappointed right now. Congrats to all accepted!

Hm...it's 10:37 AM EST on Thu, March 24 and I have not heard a peep from MGH...I'm guessing they are a no.

Hi danadana and miss mini,

I didn't receive an email from MGH last night, either. I emailed admissions this morning, asking if emails had been sent out to everyone who was accepted, or if there were more to come. They emailed me back almost immediately saying decision letters would be mailed today or tomorrow (what happened to Monday, btw!). About 20 minutes later I recieved an acceptance email.

Maybe I should call them. Haha! Congratulations!

I just got an e-mail from MGH, around noon. So for those of you who haven't heard, they are still sending the e-mails out.
