Acceptance Letters? MGH Direct-Entry Master's in Nursing

Published

Hello!

Does anyone know when acceptance letters will be mailed out for the MGH d-e master's in nursing program? I know it's only been 3 weeks since the January 10th deadline, but I'm sure I'm not the only one biting my nails in the interim. :) I've looked through a few similar threads from a few years ago-- most students seemed to receive letters in early March, but who knows whether their program deadlines were the same. Thought I'd ask the question to get some discussion going. Hope all of us hear back soon! Good luck, everyone!

I have no idea what I would do! I feel the same way because the wait-list is open until September so it could very well take a while. The whole 24 spots thing is insane and adds so much pressure but I have heard that people have been accepted off the wait-list in the past. Both programs seem great so I suppose what ever is meant to be will be. Corny huh? Lol

Congrats Huganurse, I knew you would hear good news! PsychLisa, don't count on a GRE prep course yet, it sounds like MGH still has other acceptances to send out because not that many people have heard yet! Plus, it doesn't sound like the NE waitlist is very long, so that could easily work out for you...

I'm not gonna lie, MGH is my first choice and I will be heartbroken if I don't get in.... but it's OK, worse things have happened in life, we all deal with rejection, and I can take it... I shouldn't get ahead of myself yet, I still might get an email today! (crossing my fingers....)

You two both have some really positive outlooks! Thanks for sending some of that my way....I tend to get pessimistic sometimes. (easy to do) But HugANurse, you are right....whatever's meant to be will be, definitely sounds corny but that's really the only way you can think about these things.

And Choco- I know what you mean about being heartbroken if you don't get in. That's how I feel about Northeastern. It's hard to want something so bad and have it be out of your control....but honestly, if it doesn't work out this year for you (which i'm sure it will) you just have to keep in mind that it's not personal and doesn't mean anything about your ability because EVERYONE was so talented in these applicant pools. It must have been so hard for the admissions committees! However, I see good things happening for you! Just what i've had to keep telling myself these past few months!

Thank you!! I think you are right, there's still a chance at both schools and I'm not sure but I might have received an e-mail "early" because they accepted me for a track that I did not apply for. So there are still plenty of acceptances to go, stay positive! I had already started coming up with a plan B because I was so sure that I wasn't going to get in, but surprise! I can't wait to see your posts when you both receive acceptance letters! Good luck!

Congratulations, HugANurse! That's great news on your acceptance to MGH! No email yet to me.

One thing I wanted to ask you...you didn't apply for the Adult/Gero track, and that's where they are putting you? Totally confused.

Everyone else, good luck! I love the support that this forum provides, especially during "crunch time."

Thank you HtD99! It is a bit confusing haha, I applied for Family but was wait-listed, fortunately they had an opening in the Adult track which is still Primary Care, just a different age focus. Adult=12-Up, Family=Includes Pedi. Hope that makes more sense!

I agree, this forum is great!!

That is interesting - I remember they said in the info session that the family track was the hardest to get into last year. Do you think you'd be interested in going for the adult track?

Has anyone else received anything yet, either in the mail or via email? I live near the school and had nothing in the morning delivery, however sometimes we get an afternoon delivery too (yes, it's reached the point where I'm stalking the mailman!)

I think Family is a really popular track and I remember hearing the same thing at the info session. We broke off into groups based off of specialty interest and the Family group was the largest by far. I am definitely interested in the adult track, my main goal is to be in primary care and hopefully if I decide to do pedi I can get certified in it later (or if I'm able to switch to family once I'm in the program--but there's no guarantee).

I feel the same way - I applied in family, but I would also be happy to do the adult track (I was actually torn between which track to apply in - adult, family or peds since I have reasons for loving all 3, and they are all primary care areas). I ultimately applied in family because it was the most versatile when applying for jobs, among other reasons, but that doesn't really matter if you want a job in primary care treating either exclusively adults or children. There is def a need for more adult/gero primary caregivers, which is another huge plus...

Don't worry Choco-I started skipping my afternoon classes to wait for the mailman. Now THAT is rock bottom. I also remember the family track being especially popular when I was at the info session. I applied for the child/adolescent psychiatry track. I guess I should be hopeful since at the info session there was me and one other person and no faculty member to talk to us about it, clearly cant be that popular!

Congrats HugANurse! That's great news! Nothing in the mail or email for me yet...I applied for the peds specialty. Seemed to be popular at the info session, but who knows. Hope to hear soon!

danadana: I applied to the peds specialty, too, but I never made it to an info session. I figure peds and family might be top two for most popular.

I called the student affairs office to see if all of the acceptance emails went out at the same time or if they're done by specialty, and the woman had no idea what I was talking about but said "the acceptance letters will go out this week." So apparently, they haven't even gone out yet despite what we were told earlier.

Awesome.
