Accelerated BSN program NYU Fall 2011

Hi hopeful Fall 2011 NYU students!

I recently submitted my application for the accelerated BNS program. I saw that other semesters had discussions and I thought it would be nice to start one for us, just to help each other out through the application process.

I looked at past ones when I was filling out my application and found them to be helpful, so hopefully it will be for us.

Haven't got a scooby doo what Albert is should I freak out? lol I called today too and was told that they're still getting through 40,000 freshman applicants, haven't even got to transfer students yet. She said common app is downloaded automatically and supplementary app is something they have to physically go and get. I think she meant supplement is something they download manually when they get to your app. I was told I wouldn't hear anything until at least April 1st, not to expect a confirmation email from NYU until then and most probably later than April 1st. I'm in NY

Haha Anderson Albert is the site thats kind of like a webportal for NYU. You can check the status of your application on it. They should send you a user name and password with the confirmation email.

But Oh man does this mean we should be checking common app to see if theyve gotten to our app yet?

Still on freshman?!? I wonder if theyre just saying that? Theres no way they could get through all of that and then transfers AND THEN let us know by April 1st is there?! Maybe we will be hearing more towards the middle of April...? Who knows? :/ I feel like everyone who calls gets a different answer. Kind of discouraging...

Well since you get put on hold as if you're calling ATT or someone, it seems they have students employed to man the phones and just guide people the best they can. I never got any email from NYU, but I did only send my common app 03/15 and my transcripts weren't sent until about 03/20 so maybe they send the email when they can confirm they have all components of the application. It's weird because someone from the nursing admissions emailed and said it was strange my supplement wasn't downloaded and to call up and check but when I called the suggested number the girl told me to chill, and that I shouldn't even expect an email from NYU for a while yet....uhuh I hope she didn't get confused and think I was referring to a decision email..

All I got was an email confirming common app and supplement were submitted from the common app people nothing direct from NYU, did you guys all get a confirmation email from NYU saying your app was received?

I applied in January (was super busy in Feb/Mar so I wanted to get done early) and I received 3 emails. One was confirmation that my common app was downloaded, a second saying the supp was downloaded, and a third from NYU saying they received my apps and instructions for Albert. All these emails came within 3 days of each other. But I wouldn't freak out if you didn't get the same thing, obviously, the mass of freshman has overloaded their system and things aren't going according to plan.

I'm a little disappointed about what Anderson said, when I emailed a few weeks ago they said they were just getting around to the Transfer apps b/c of the freshman overload. But if they haven't even started now, I'm afraid April 1st isn't realistic! But in the end, I'd rather they take more time reviewing our Apps since we're special. We have 1 degree already (I was a Psyc major), more work experience and other things that I would think it would take longer to assess our apps.

Uggh, gotta think about another nursing school app due this week, focus focus focus!! It's so hard as I really only want to go to NYU.

OMG... I just send my application. Those essays were a killer. I'm so happy I finished my application. I guess my waiting time has begun.

Should I call tomorrow and ask if they received my paperwork?

I wouldn't worry about calling them right now if you just turned in your application. As of right now they are over-loaded with everyone's application and it took them about 2-3 weeks to up-date anything on my application, so I wouldn't stress to much. Hope that helps and good luck :)

Just an update...received an e-mail from someone in admissions today asking about one of my prerequisites and transcripts so they are definitely looking at materials for transfers/accelerated applicants.

Yep - all was fine. I was still taking microbiology when I submitted my app/transcripts so she wanted me to resend the transcript with my micro grade and clarify where/when I was taking nutrition. She said once they receive the updated transcript, my application will be complete. :)

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you know that admissions has already sent out their decisions to the traditional freshman applicants via email which means WE'RE NEXT!!! Get ready!!!

will we be contacted by email or via snail mail? i think the previous semesters received theirs via snail mail..although not quite sure.

they're saying email, but you are correct that SOME students in past semesters found out via snail mail before they got any email
