Accelerated BSN program NYU Fall 2011

U.S.A. New York

Hi hopeful Fall 2011 NYU students!

I recently submitted my application for the accelerated BNS program. I saw that other semesters had discussions and I thought it would be nice to start one for us, just to help each other out through the application process.

I looked at past ones when I was filling out my application and found them to be helpful, so hopefully it will be for us.

Love to see who all is applying and how it's going:)

Lots of new people. Awesome!

Hi all! Washcaps you said next Friday and it literally made me nauseous! Haha Thats so soon! Ok we have to hold it together. Just a little longer friends.

Btw anyone ever find out a way to check if they have our letters of rec...? I think I may call tomorrow.

Hi everyone -

Finally have a few items checked off in Albert - just my college transcripts; the high school transcript and standardized test scores are still not checked. I imagine all that will take care of itself once they work through what I'm sure is a huge amount of application material.

I submitted my application before March 1 and mine also says regular decision; I figure the date of your application is what is important in terms of being part of the priority decision process.

Hope we're all sharing good news in the next few weeks!

Hey Scott! How are you? Nice to see a guy on here!

2nurse1: Id definitely try giving them a call. You shouldve atleast gotten an email confirmation. Are you able to log into NYU/Albert?

Washcaps, Scott, 2nurse1, and Ali: Where are you guys from? (Caps I know youre from NY), and do you all have a Bachelors degrees? In what? Just curious about the diversity for these nursing programs.

Hey EmEm -

I am well...just anxiously awaiting some news like everyone else!

I am living in NYC now - moved here last summer from Memphis though I grew up near Chicago. I have a BS in journalism from the University of Illinois. Glad you asked the question - I am curious about the different backgrounds of people applying to the program.

Journalism huh? ...So you have 1 up on us with the writing portion of the application. ;)

Thats really cool. Why the switch?

Im graduating in May with a BS in Kinesiology.

EmEmJay,

I'm from Rochester, NY. I'm graduating from the university at buffalo with B.A. in health and human services and a concentration in early childhood devlopment .

Well not sure if I have a one up - I'm not a big fan of writing about myself so I really struggled with my statement.

I had been working in marketing/communications and while I liked the work itself, I never really felt like what I was doing was really helping anyone. Considered several things before I finally decided nursing was what I really wanted to do. I was nervous at making such a big switch, but once I started taking the prerequisites I found I really loved the material - even classes I didn't much care for (chemistry, anyone?).

Kinesiology - so you have a one up on everything else then! Where are you from?

Hello Everybody

I am in the process of applying for Fall 2011 transfer nursing student. I was wondering if there is anyone one else applying as a transfer. Most of the people now are 2nd degree student... GOODLUCK everyone.

I called the school today and they told me that we should find out in 4 weeks!!!

Welcome Newcomers!

It's exciting to see new people joining everyday and from all over. Hopefully, we will all hear something soon.

EmEmJay,

I am also graduating this May with a BS in Kinesiology, well my school calls it Health & Exercise Sciences because they don't solely focus on the movement on the body, but other aspects of it as well.

KKandes,

That news was very disheartening the other day, but now I am in CA and trying to relax and not think about it ;)

Joel,

Does everyone hear in 4 weeks or is that just for transfer applicants?!?! I know someone who is transferring for Fall 2011, so I'll pass that info along. Thanks!

Hey where can I check the status on my application. Is it on the common application?

Joel,

Did you receive an email from NYU stating that they received your application? If you did, they should have given you a login name. I don't know if they do this for transfer applicants, but I am assuming it is the same for everyone. You'll have to make a password and then you will be able to login to the Albert system once you have all that done and you can check the status of your application. Hope that helped! And WELCOME!

Thanks Annie. I guess i should be receiving an email from them soon. I have been reading all the blogs and it seems like they give priority to the people who apply in early february, is that correct? I just applied this week and paperwork is still in the process of getting to them.

Yikes!
