Accelerated BSN program NYU Fall 2011

Published

Hi hopeful Fall 2011 NYU students!

I recently submitted my application for the accelerated BNS program. I saw that other semesters had discussions and I thought it would be nice to start one for us, just to help each other out through the application process.

I looked at past ones when I was filling out my application and found them to be helpful, so hopefully it will be for us.

Love to see who all is applying and how it's going:)

msnee-

I called the general number for admissions. Someone else on this forum might know a better number, but that's the only one I know of. Maybe you could ask to speak to assistant director of student admissions, so she can make sure it is taken care of. I don't think I am allowed to write her name on the forum, but she is the one who replies to emails. I'll send you a private pm with her name if you want.

I only applied to two schools because I am trying to stay in NY for personal reasons. Plus, if I don't get in anywhere, I'll just take a year off to be an EMT or a CNA to gain more experience. Which schools did you apply to?

please pm me her contact info.

if i don't get in i'm going to work a year at the hospital also. i applied to pace, seton hall, csu at san marcos (cali), new rochelle and rochester. i hope i get accepted in the city. i want to stay close to home !!!i wonder how many students nyu accepts each year!

I sent you a pm. Let me know if you got it.

NYU has a large program, so I am sure they accept a good number of students. I hope I get into at least one of the two schools I applied to, but I know a lot of people are going back to school. I read somewhere that nursing school applicants have increased by a lot of over the past 2 or 3 years, which I think is excellent. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the pm. I hope we both get in !! You are so nice! Which other school did you apply to? I read there is a shortage or RNs therefore a shortage of nursing educators and that is why it is so competitive now to go into nursing. Everyone wants to be a nurse since the economy is so bad right now.

Hey msnee!

I was going to write to help you out but looks like Annie has taken care of that. ;) So I will just say Welcome to the forum and good luck!! Youre in good company. We are all really nervous. The closer it gets to April the more anxious I get. Im from california so moving all the way across country is going to be huge for me! I keep seeing NY tshirts and tv shows where they are in NY. Are these signs?! lol :)

Let us know how everything works out.

As for me tho, I only applied to NYU. Its really the only school I want to go to so I figured for the first time around Id only apply to 1 and see how that goes. If it doesnt work out then Im going to apply to more for spring (including nyu again). I need to take GREs tho. Thats the other reason I only applied to nyu, alot of other schools that I would want to go to require GREs.

msnee,

I'm just glad I could help! I just hope everyone gets in. I know everyone here works really hard and from what I have seen everyone has great credentials. I applied to Columbia's ETP and got wait-listed. Getting into nursing school has become very competitive, but I think that is good. We need more nurses!

EmEmJay-

I don't think you're going to have to reapply next year because I am pretty confident that you will get into NYU ;) Then you can make the big move to the East Coast hahaha...we are stealing more of you West coasters! Welcome!

Also, I have a question (probably a very dumb one), but does NYU have an accepted students day?

Annie well WHEN Im accepted I cant wait to meet you because I know you will be there too! (this is the best "buddy" looking face I could find. haha)

And accepted day? Its definitely not a dumb question. Im not sure if they do. I know some schools over here have them. But they call them like welcome week. Where parents can come as well. Is that what youre talking about? Either way I have no idea. LoL

Hi all! I applied in January and am in the "dying to hear back" boat as well! I checked Albert often and grew so nervous over the HS and standardized score unchecked boxes I emailed admissions. They immediately went into Albert and changed it for me. I thanked them and asked if it held up my app as it was listed as "incomplete", they said no - swamped with freshman - and they would be reviewing apps soon (this was the 2nd week in March).

They could be looking at ours right now! Ahh.... I've waited so long for this, I really hope I get in. I applied to Pace and Rutgers, and will also apply to Phillips Beth Israel as a back-up plan. Hope to keep up w/ you all!

Hi washcaps! Welcome to our anxious group. hehe

Good to know. Ive been wanting to email or call about my hs transcripts and my test scores but didnt want to feel like I was bothering them. I have this horrible vision in my head that everytime I call they are going to be like "Oh Mystie lets deny her she keeps calling and bugging us." Haha (Totally being dramatic but you know what I mean.)

Right now Im being that good little girl whos going to meet her bfs parents. On my best behavior.

Caps have you heard back from any others or when do you expect to? Also are you from the east coast?

Its getting closer guys! April is less than 10 days away!!!

Hey everyone!! I had to come back on!

I just went to check Albert and saw this about admission decisions:

Admission Decision Release and Contacting the Office of Financial Aid

We expect that all admission decisions will be sent via email sometime after April 1st, at 5pm (Eastern Standard Time). Admission decisions will not be available anywhere on this website. Decisions will not be released over the phone until April 4th. Students who are admitted and who call or email with questions about their financial aid award are asked to be patient. We expect the volume of inquiries to be high during this time. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

Does this mean we could know as soon as April 1st??! Or call and know over the phone as soon as the 4th?! Im more nervous now!!

Welcome Washcaps!

My Albert information is finally checked off and I don't know if they are doing this stuff alphabetically, but my last starts with an "S" so maybe we could hear after April 1st? Hopefully, I'm getting very anxious. I am going to CA this Thursday, so "hello" to all the West Coasters!!!!! First time there since I was 2.

Hi Everyone. I also applied and I'm in the same boat. I just wanted to say thanks for the information. And  on the fact we could find out on April 1st!! I live in TX and I want to move but I can't until I know for sure.

So that is great news!!

Good luck to you all!!
