ABSN UMass Amherst 2015

Published

So, I would really like to get into UMass Amherst for there 2015-2016 cycle, so I will be sending in my application soon for there February 2015 deadline.

I'm just wondering if I even have a chance since my Bachelors in Biology overall GPA is a 2.99, then I took a summer course (Microbiology) at a community college and received an A. Hopefully that'll boost my GPA up for my degree?

I also have over 2,500 hours as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and I've studied abroad in England/Ireland for a Biology course.

This is my number one school that I would like to get into too, I was just wondering other peoples statistics on their GPA average, GPA for their pre-reqs, and if anyone has been or is in the program can tell me about it?

Thanks :)

Oh nooooooooo... I got my acceptance letter today, yes I am very happy but it said I had to respond and has it postmarked by March 9th,,whats going on? I just got it today,,, I emailed them and hopefully they will extend my deadline...

CALL! Sounds like there way some delay via the postal service. Call call call and good luck, congrats!

Has anyone who interviewed last week heard back? I wish they would have advertised that it was rolling admissions! I obviously would have picked an earlier time to have my interview. Lesson learned.

@Y'Leah: I would say it was a mistake, maybe they forgot to change the date on the letter, they probably have one that they use for everyone and they change the information (name, dates). They gave me plenty of time to respond and it was also due the 9th. I interviewed like 2 weeks before you so I don't think you should worry about it

I don't know, whitamills, I interviewed on Feb. 19 and still haven't heard! I just emailed the woman who interviewed me, so maybe she can tell me something. She told me I'd hear in early March.

Those who have heard... were you all given until Mar 9 to respond?

I know some people who have been accepted to the program have already divulged their GPAs and stats, but I'm still curious as to what those are? What are the typical GPAs and prereq GPAs that have been accepted??

My letter had the March 9th deadline, but I would assume the deadline depends on when they mail it out?

As far as my stats go I had an overall GPA of 3.8, and my prereq GPA was 4.0.

My letter came relatively quick (2/27) and with the March 9th deadline. As for my stats, I had a pre-req GPA of 3.36 and no clue what my overall GPA was, but it's definitely lower than that. The rest of my application (resume, letters of recommendation, essay) was very strong, which I think made up for my lower GPA.

@egboeman and @jewels129 - I assume since you guys both interviewed early that's why you received your letters first. The deadline for March 9th- is that when they wanted to send out admissions by? I still haven't heard anything yet but I'm sure it's coming soon. -- To anyone that is still waiting for a letter also, they do have a wait list (no specific number, just random so FYI if you end up getting that kind of letter)... Did ya'll have a date when your deposits were due? I know last year they said the deposit was like $100 from what I heard.

My GPA for the pre reqs was a 4.0. They said they don't consider your undergrad GPA. I volunteered at a hospital for 8 months and had strong recommendations. I am also an older student that got my first degree in 1997. I don't know if that made a difference.
