ABSN CSULA Summer 2018

Published

Hello ALL!

I wanted to start a topic about ABSN program at CSULA for Summer 2018 and get some feedback about applying, stats, and more. I am looking to apply here and to other similar programs and I wanted feedback about your experiences.

Just have a figure out how much time you want to wait to start a program/how long you want the program to take! You will for sure hit the cut score at CCs and usually it's a lottery, so it's best to apply to as many as possible to give yourself a better chance!

I replied to you before I replied to cookiemishy, but it was said to be supposed to be posted after being checked and approved...Maybe my reply was too long, and i attached a link about the all the ABSN programs in California...

I really appreciate your help and support.

I don't know when would they post my reply

:happy:Thank you for sharing me your views!

The programs at CCs are really competitive too (from what I have heard). Do you consider that going with ADN programs a better choice than transferring to a regular BSN program?

It's hard to say what the better choice is, because I think it really depends on what your priority is. For me, time was the most important thing. I wanted to finish quickly and already had a first bachelor's, which is why I applied to ABSN programs first (as I'm sure it was for you, too). And if that didn't work out, I would've applied to ADN programs, started working as an RN, then worked while doing an RN to BSN program. I'm pretty sure ADN to RN to BSN is the cheapest option, too. Hospitals are looking more for BSNs these days, so that's another thing you might want to consider if you're thinking of ADN vs the traditional BSN. I hope you're able to choose what's best for you :)

As for your reply to Jetsettingnurse, it's probably slow to post because you included a link.

Did anyone fill out FAFSA yet? I put 5thyear/other undergraduate as my grade level in 2018 and 2nd bachelors for my degree type. Anyone fill out differently (graduate vs undergrad)?

I put:

29. Student's Grade Level in College in 2018-2019:

ATTENDED COLLEGE BEFORE/1ST YR.

30. Type of Degree/Certificate:

2ND BACHELOR'S DEGREE

Has anyone accessed GET yet and looked at the application/admissions status?

The log-in is based on a 9-digit CIN ID...except mine is 10 digits. Not that it really matters at this point, but I figured I'd respond :-)

I've accessed GET but am having trouble finding the application status section. Am I overlooking it? And does anyone know when we'll hear back from the university for admission?

EDIT: I see the status section now! My application status says 'Incomplete' though. Anyone else have this too? Thank you!

How did you guys get in with a 10-digit CIN #?

How did you guys get in with a 10-digit CIN #?

Did you get a second email with information on your PIN? That email has more info on how to login with your 10-digit CIN!

you need to take out the first two digits and place in W instead

The 10 digit number is the CAS ID number on Cal State Apply. We were sent two emails, one with a CIN number and a second with a pin number. The email with the pin provides instructions on how to use the CIN and pin when logging in.

Yes, got the email but it says:

User ID - Replace the first 2 digits of your 9-digit CIN with a "W"

â—‹ Example: If CIN is 123456789, the User ID is W3456789

It's instructions for a 9-digit number, mine is 10 digits

I wish this didn't have to be so complicated.

I called and they said my ID was sent to me incorrectly. Got it to work with the new one they gave me!
