Hello ALL!

I wanted to start a topic about ABSN program at CSULA for Summer 2018 and get some feedback about applying, stats, and more. I am looking to apply here and to other similar programs and I wanted feedback about your experiences.

Hi there! Planning on applying to the ABSN program for Summer 2018 as well and would love to hear some feedback :)

Hi all! Thanks for starting this thread, I too plan on applying for the upcoming cohort. In currently taking my last two pre-requisites Microbiology and Physiology.

Me too! I am currently taking Microbiology and Physiology as well as public speaking!

The program states that: "All four sciences with lab prerequisite courses must be completed by the end of the preceding fall quarter/semester in order to apply for that summer's ABSN program."

Could anyone clarify; we would have to complete all science prereqs Fall of 2017 (this year) in order to apply for Summer 2018, is that correct?

Also, if you guys don't mind sharing your stats..like Teas and undergrad GPA. I don't feel as qualified and wondering if I should apply this semester. Thanks!!

Yes that's correct! All science prereqs need to be completed by fall of 2017 to apply for summer 2018.

I'm taking the TEAS soon but my undergraduate GPA is quite low. It's 3.3 but I'm hoping my 4.0 prereq GPA will count more :/ how about you?

Hey! I'm also applying this fall for summer 2018. Nice to meet you all! This place is NOT easy to get into! I have never worked so hard in my life! :)

3.3 doesn't preclude you from getting in! We didn't all have 4.0s, I know plenty of people who were between 3.0 and 3.5. She does want above 90th percentile on TEAS in certain areas (forget which). She looks at 3 GPAs: most important is your prereq GPA, then last 90 quarter units or 60 semester units, and last is the overall GPA.

I am applying too! Good luck to all of us!

My stats are as follows:

  • Undergrad GPA: 3.3 ):
  • Pre-requisites: All A's & 1 B
  • Last 60 GPA: ~3.7
  • TEAS: set to take them in December
  • Internship experience: 280 hours interning through COPE (clinical), 240 hours interning with the VA (clerical)

Not impressive but I'm hoping it will be enough because CSULA is my first choice!

most important GPAs are the pre-reqs. TEAS also seems to matter. Even if your overall GPA is under 3.0, but your pre-req GPA is high you can get in. TEAS requires a bit of studying, but nothing to sweat over.

I'm worried I don't have enough volunteer hours. I have everything else :( I also don't work in the field.
