  1. Thanks for making the group!
  2. I think I'm going to decide after the first term to see if I can handle both. Hopefully I can handle working once a week. Good luck to everyone on the waiting list!
  3. That's what I'm thinking. The ABSN program is much harder to get into than the school itself. I'm anxious too and have been browsing previous forums like crazy. I haven't come across a post yet where a person was accepted to the program but not to the school.
  4. My status says incomplete, also. I called Cal State LA's admissions office, and the lady I spoke to said that it doesn't mean that the paperwork is incomplete but that the process is incomplete. She wasn't able to give me an estimated time as to when the status would be updated, but one person in the previous forums had a status change mid-April. >_
  5. Has anyone accessed GET yet and looked at the application/admissions status?
  6. I put: 29. Student's Grade Level in College in 2018-2019: ATTENDED COLLEGE BEFORE/1ST YR. 30. Type of Degree/Certificate: 2ND BACHELOR'S DEGREE
  7. It's hard to say what the better choice is, because I think it really depends on what your priority is. For me, time was the most important thing. I wanted to finish quickly and already had a first bachelor's, which is why I applied to ABSN programs first (as I'm sure it was for you, too). And if that didn't work out, I would've applied to ADN programs, started working as an RN, then worked while doing an RN to BSN program. I'm pretty sure ADN to RN to BSN is the cheapest option, too. Hospitals are looking more for BSNs these days, so that's another thing you might want to consider if you're thinking of ADN vs the traditional BSN. I hope you're able to choose what's best for you :) As for your reply to Jetsettingnurse, it's probably slow to post because you included a link.
  8. I'm thinking #3 might be your best option if you're not able to apply to other ABSN programs in socal like CSUSM, CSUF, Mount Saint Mary's, or Concordia (maybe even CSUN for spring 2019) due to expense/distance. I would suggest apply to all the CCs in or near Los Angeles. This was going to be my route if I didn't get into any ABSN schools. Have you considered Western Governors? I think their classes are online but the clinicals are on site. It takes 2.5 years to complete though. I'm really sorry that you didn't get in, and good luck with applying to other schools!
  9. That's great! Also keep an eye out for CSUN's ABSN program for spring 2019. The program is still on hiatus and is pending CSU Chancellor's Office approval, but you never know!
  10. The fall 2018 priority deadline was 3/16/18. Maybe that means that you can still apply?
  11. This is from their FAQ: "4. WHAT CHEMISTRY COURSES WILL ARTICULATE, OR BE EQUIVALENT, TO YOUR CHEM 105 AND CHEM 105L? Articulation agreements with local Community Colleges for the Pre-Nursing Core are available on the Assist Web site. Select Cal State San Marcos from the first drop-down menu, select the Community College you wish to attend from the second drop-down menu, choose Select By Major, and then select Nursing from the list of majors. If an integrated chemistry course with a lab that covers inorganic, organic and biochemistry, is not available at your institution, ideally we are looking for a General Chemistry course with lab (not an Intro to General Chemistry) or an Organic Chemistry course with lab." I think what they ideally want is an integrated course. I applied here also at the last minute in addition to CSULA and NYU, and I only took a General Chemistry course. I haven't asked anyone at San Marcos directly, but I think a General Chemistry course should be sufficient.
  12. I'm really sorry to hear that as well. I wish you the best with other schools. Have you looked into Cal State San Marcos ABSN program? They have 3 cohorts per year and their requirements are similar to Cal State LA's.
  13. Here's the tally so far. Sorry if I missed anyone! Interviewed baebae stellanurse365 Jetsettingnurse amarie6 cookiemishy aykaykayk normalnate deelyjoh angie155 jslba bc27drive Wabis bkturtle Got the call jslba bc27drive amarie6 cookiemishy baebae Wabis
  14. Yes, we have to give a response by 3/27 noon.
  15. It was me :) Definitely going with Cal State LA, NYU was in case I didn't get in. Don't give up hope! Based on previous forums, I think the acceptance calls go out over a few days.
