Used in to work at an HCA nights 7a-7p 12 hr shifts that usually turned into 14-15 hrs 3-4 times/week with 8-10 pts (four times 12 pts, once 11 pts on a traumatic shift in the trauma unit when our unit was closed for cleaning) with no rhyme or reason to the scheduling--plus extra shifts per shift bid. Vericous veins, neuropathy, painful feet.
But now in a Southern state on a 7a-7p day shift instead with usually 5 pts (the nighters have 6), shifts are set (which makes it easy for administrators, too) working Mo-Tu,Fr-Sa-Su one week, then working the opposite days the next week so you get a three-day weekend every other weekend--plus any extra shifts you want to work. The pain is gone, the blue veins are fading.
I work 3 12's as well. I work 1900-0730. I try to pick up OT day per week on my own unit. I do every other weekend as well.In the past I have worked agency to get some extra hours as well.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you get your agency position? How did that go for you?
thanks for the replies all
I work 3 12 hour shifts 7am-7:30pm. I usually end up leaving around 8pm. I will work an additional shift to cover another nurse as needed. I usually put in an extra shift or two a month which isn't bad. I love working only 3 days. Once I'm up and there I'd rather get the torture done in less days.

Hello all, I'm just wondering what hours everyone works and if you wish you could find a way to work more ... I think it would be cool to compare here on these forums.
6AM-230PM right here
but sometimes I wish I could work more with gas going through the roof
