Abington Dixon SON : Waiting for my letter

Published

Hello everyone, Im new to this site. Im interested in hearing from prospective Abington DSON students. Has anyone received their acceptance letter for eve/weekend 2009 regular decision. Please let me knw. Thanks

That's what I didn't like about some of the other programs like penn and drexel--the nursing course are spread out over the whole four/five years. Whereas with Jeff, LSU, etc. I get all the general ed out of the way and can just do straight nursing stuff for two years.

Jefferson's cool and all, but you're not "allowed" to work during the program and I got bills! LSU and Abington were basically my only options for a eve/weekend program.

And a word of advice about Jefferson--apply EARLY! Like September, lol. I'm on their waiting list because the class starting in fall 2009 was already filled by October 2008!

So, for those that were accepted to Dixon...do you have any words of advice? I will be putting my application together in the next few months. TEAS is done and I scored well (88%), pre-req's are underway (will not be totally done until summer 2010). For some reason, I feel ill-prepared. I want to ensure that I have everythig in order to apply. I really want to go to Dixon, as it is a great school, and it happens to be about 5 minutes from where I live.

Congrats to all those that were accepted! And to those that were placed on the wait list....keep at it! Maybe I'll see you there at some point!

Hi Career Change!

Welcome to the wonderful world of nursing student information overload! :)

The best advice I can give regarding the admission process is to apply early. As soon as you have 5 of your prerequisite courses completed (minimum of 2 sciences), submit your application. The early admission deadline is November 15th, but it is a rolling admission process. Even though you won't be finished with the prerequisites until Summer 2010, you may still be able to get in to the 2010 class, depending on your GPA and how many classes you have completed already. Make a checklist and be sure to have everything completed in time (2 references, college transcripts, etc.). Being super-organized is a skill we all need in nursing school anyway, so starting early never hurts!

Good luck to you!
