A nurse, pregnant, what to do about scrubs?

Published

Hi, just looking for advise from those that have worked while being pregnant. I have gotten to the point where none of my scrub tops fit. I hate to buy giant scrubs for three more months. Any advice?

Buy a couple of huge ones and live through it and be bored with them. If you're not sick of them by the time the kid comes, see if anybody you know sews and can cut them down for you. It should be fairly easy for anyone who can sew. I don't of any other alternatives, does anyone else???

I worked with a girl who wore t-shirt type tops she wore at home. And then put a scrub jacket that matched over the top. She left the jacket unbuttoned so that way it would fit her.

I didn't know this until I was well into my pregnancy (and had gone shopping  ) but our hospital will provide pregnant employees with the generic scrubs-you know, the ugly green kind;).

I bought 3 big scrub tops and huge drawstring pants when I was pregnant.....

Well, I was pregger two years ago and wore drawstring scrubs and maternity tops.

I went off on disability the last two months due to high blood pressure and extreme fatigue. The BP rise was due to fatigue . .working fulltime plus some. And my shift is 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. Boy, was I glad to get to stay home.

I gave all my maternity stuff away. Ya just gotta live through it. This too shall pass.

Good luck.

A nurse i know bought cotton kint maternity tops and wore them with white pants. You'd have never known that her tops weren't scrub-related, she did well with outfit matching.

Our facility provides scrubs for an expecting mother. Although needless to say they have all the style and comfort of a burlap sack.

Of course you could always make friends with some of your plus size colleagues and borrow a couple of large size scrub tops from them. I've loaned out some on occasion to my pregnant co-workers.

When I was preggers with the boys I would wear a regular maternity top or t-shirt with a scrub jacket with my scrubs or an X large scrub top. Really the best place to find clothes turnes out to be second hand shops I would stroll thru these places and find stuff I could wear and it was cheap. I carried the boys ot to the front so the XL or XXL tops were better for me. The nurses at the hospital where I worked gave me some of their old scrubs, I donated mine after I was done. We kinda had a maternity lending closet, it saved a lot of money.

I really had trouble finding pants that would not stay up, I ended up buying 3 pairs of Crest pants in different colors and thats what I wore the most. Its a b$tch putting up a new IV bag with one hand and holding up your waistband with the other.
