My older sister is going to school to be a nurse but she gets angry very easily. Can she take an ager management class and still be a nurse?
A "great nurse" is capable of keeping her anger in check. If this person already has anger issues and they are not even exposed to some of the crap that comes with a nursing career, it doesn't really matter how badly or how great of nurse she thinks she may be. For everyone involved, it would be highly advisable to get the anger under control before attempting to venture into patient care.[/quote']A "great nurse" might also sometimes need her anger(channeled right,of course) to get things done!
I have a classmate that is doing her pre-reqs and she is not a people person at all. I would like to see the type of nurse she makes. She literally walks around with a scowl on her face at school and her conversation is alway negative. Hopefully at home she's different.
even that, one can't judge.
i know a nurse who wasn't a "people persons"...
frankly, she was pretty disenchanted w/man in general.
yet when it came to those at a disadvantage, she had a huge, HUGE heart.
you couldn't want for a better advocate.
actually i know a few people like that.
they come across as cranky, abrasive people...
who are seriously some of the most tender-hearted folks i've ever met.
you can't judge a scowl by its cover. :)

Like I said maybe she is just like this at school. I am not judging her by her scowl, I just mentioned it but mainly I was going by statements she has said to me and others over the course of the past few years as well as actions. Put it like this...I would not want her to be my nurse based on the rude way she treats her fellow classmates, that and she cannot seem to pass physiology (has dropped the course 3 times).

the bolding (mine) is what scares the begeebeez out of me.
for me, i would much rather have intelligence over mannerism, versus a warm smile over ineptness (or close to it.)
anyways, i'm not saying your concern isn't valid...
just pointing out that there are cranks with big hearts.

This can't even be a "real" post, can it? Nah....
I wouldn't admit to getting a black eye in an after hours fist-fight at a bar....not to a patient, at least. I'd say I fell down. That's my serious answer.
