A nurse that needs agnger management

Published

My older sister is going to school to be a nurse but she gets angry very easily. Can she take an ager management class and still be a nurse?

Her anger issues will not necessarily disqualify her from being a safe and therapeutic nurse. I have struggled with anger issues, but with pts my professionalism supercedes my hot temper. I agree with the poster who said that family members are not always ideal candidates for judging character and potential. It's best to support and encourage her to pursue her dream.

A nurse can take any class they want. I would be more concerned about the anger interfering with someones ability to perform their job.

concentrate on your issues and let your sister worry about hers.

Her having an anger control problem is something that should be addressed NOW. Because when she gets into the real world of nursing, having a problem with anger management may result in her being unable to keep a job. I would suggest a full evaluation by a psychiatrist or psychologist before taking an anger management course. There may be underlying issues such as depression that need to be addressed.
