Ask them why they feel that way. Some people have a weird way of telling you that you made a mistake. Your a student nurse..you will make some mistakes but you must learn from them. If my teacher ever told me that I would have been very discouraged too. Find out what the problem is and see if you can work out how to fix it together.
I would have said, "that is the LEAST constructive remark I've ever heard and hope you never say that to any other student ever"
And yes I'd definitely ask him/her why they feel that way.
I hope you don't let it get you down, keep your head and keep working towards your goal! If you don't get him/her to give you constructive criticism I would definitely go to someone in the department to help :)
Once I had a clinical instructor say, "Don't ever tell anyone that I was your clinical instructor! You're an embarrassment to our profession!" We butted heads the entire year and she had said many condescending things to me before, but that one took the cake! I complained to the director of my nursing program and the instructor was made to apologize to me. After that incident, she spoke to me like she had some sense! Sometimes the best revenge against a rude instructor is going over their heads and speaking to their superior about their unprofessional remarks!

I just want to know has anybody ever been told by their nursing instructors that they could not be a nurse. If so, how did you cope?
