I use flash cards, but when asked a question a day later, my memory is blank, and I have to think awhile. I studied my flash cards nonstop! It's not working, what should I do. What did you guys do.

I memorized but you have to do a little more then that. You need to understand the processes. This way you can remmeber more because you are actually learning the material.

Read the definitions into a recorder and listen to them over and over while your'e driving, etc.
I've never done this (or wanted to), but it might work.

If there is a specific area that you're having difficulty w/, check out Utube. It's amazing what's on there. I'm fairly certain my biochemistry prof had early onset AD. I pretty much learned everything she forgot to teach us by watching Utube videos. Also, there should be a website associated w/ your textbook that should give you quizzes, etc, to go along w/ the chapters. Hope that helps! Also, I recorded every lecture for physiology and listened to them during my commute. I was one of the few in class that did this and I got A's in all the pre-req's. Good luck!

It could be a variety of things. Maybe you would learn better by hearing the info. What are some examples of words that you're having trouble with? Is it more anatomy or is it the physiological processes? I always associate the word with a key term in the definition. Or I will say the word in my mind and picture it at the same time. For example, homeostasis. I found the key word in that definition to be "balance." I would say the word to myself, and actually picture a person and a balance scale sitting in the person, trying to reach a balance. It's weird, but it worked! It's also important to make sure you use your own words in a way that you best understand. I am a visual learner, so I would be sure to use that word as much as possible when writing my own notes at home and understand the meaning of that defnition and why it is so important.

Just to add to everyone else's suggestions, this is what works for me:
-type/retype up notes from class, or create an outline on the computer (the end result doesn't help as much as actually thinking about it and typing it up)
-with flash cards, it's good to use some kind of system (a common one I've heard is the Leitner System).
there are also plenty of online flashcard websites to be found if you search for flashcards and even leitner... but you'll have to type up all your cards. i always do best with physical ones anyway.
