Ok, no one has started this yet, so I guess I will. I start A&P I on January 18th, lab and lecture.
Here are a few good websites I have found...some are basic, some may be more indepth than your instructor asks for.....BUT it gives you a little more to look over before class starts next month! :) ....Never forget the website for your actual book too!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

....Good luck to everyone else! I look forward to reading more from everyone else. Glad that there's a range of grades and a good attitude about each of us achieving our own goals on this thread, not comparing ourselves to each other. That's true support.
I seem to be ahead of a few I study with in my class. I just tell them it's only because I have more time to study the material. It makes a difference, and I'm glad I can help.
I don't work, and this is the only class I am taking until March 21st. So, my time has been spent....IN A TEXTBOOK!! lol
Good luck to you, and I'm glad you can drop a lab exam!!! Study hard, and do well on all your other exams! :)
I'm glad I found this thread. I could use a support group for this experienceAt my community college, Physiology and Anatomy are taught during separate semesters. I did Physio last semester and now in Anatomy I am realizing why it was so hard to do Physio and most of the other students knew some of what I didn't (b/c they mostly took Anatomy first).
In Anatomy, I feel I have a certain advantage in having taken Physio b/c most of the student's haven't, so some of the functional stuff is a review for me. Which is all the better, because all dem bones... and all those different tuberosities and processes and fossa, foramina, and w/muscles the points of origin and insertion, there's so much to memorize and we have to perform in 2 min intervals for each lab exam item, so you really have to know it.
Anyway, I did great on the first lecture exam, really well on the first lab exam, did great on my dissection, bombed the second lab exam (was busy dissecting instead of studying about bones) which is ok b/c we can drop one lab exam, just took the second lecture exam which I think I did well on and am facing a another lab exam on Friday, for which I am ill prepared. It's back to points of origin and insertion and back to the cadavers tomorrow evening to poke around some more.

Are you going to SRJC??? You just described my class EXACTLY! I didn't have to do the dissection while studying the bones, but my friend did, and she bombed the bone lab exam too. We just had our lecture exam yesterday, and our muscle lab exam is Friday too. I'm going to poke around tonight! Too funny!
Heather
Thanks, Fun2, for the encouragement, and that's great that you are somewhat ahead in your Anatomy class. I dream of that day when I am ahead!
Heather, I just met you right before and during open lab this evening, what a coincidence. I think I have the extensor and flexor forearm and the adductor muscles down now. Thanks also for helping me see which of the three heads of the triceps I was looking at.
I don't know if anyone else on this thread is doing anatomy with human cadavers, but it's really something. After a bit, the dread goes away and it becomes quite fascinating. I guess it's also good preparation for nursing, where we'll be seeing all kinds of things that aren't necessarily pretty, not to mention anatomically important.
Good night, all.
Good start LKG! Congratulations.I scored 59.5 out of 60 in my skeleton lab exam and 99% in my first lecture exam (which covered Marieb chapters 1 to 8). Needless to say I am thrilled.
Incidentally, the 0.5 I lost in the lab exam was because I wrote "Middle Phalange" as opposed to writing "Middle Phalange #2". Details details, how important they are. We've got to watch out for those details.
You have covered Ch 1-8 already! We have only done 1-4. Test #1 was Ch 1&2 then test #2 was Ch 3&4. We are only going up to ch 15 for this course. I'm glad I'm not in your class, I would fail for sure. I'm barely hanging on to an "A" in my class.
Hope everyone is having a good week!
We have a lab test next Tues on the CNS ( brain and all it's parts) and the cranial nerves. In lecture we are finishing up Electrophysiology then moving on to the brain + spinal tracts before our next test there.
Does anyone else have a lot of people dropping out already? My classes are shrinking!

About a quarter of the students dropped after the first test. We just had our 2nd test and the teacher said he has had people coming to his office asking about dropping, so I guess even more will be gone next week. I know the girl that sits next to me is going to drop. Now I will be sitting all by myself with no one to talk to. I get the table all to myself though so I can spread my stuff out.
Howdy strangers!
I been busy. The beginning of my LPN program started last monday (and yea, we've had the people drop already, just like two, but still!) so I haven't been around. I'm still doing my A&P online class though. I haven't been finding it too hard to do the beginning of this program plus my two online classes because I get out of class at 11:30 and it's easy so far. We are doing some basic pre-reqs in the beginning of the program w/ hardly any homework. It won't get intense until May (when the nursing classes and clinicals start) and by then A&P will be over.
I have my midterm on Sat. Been studying all week long! Anyone got any good hints to memorize all those little holes in the cranium? Foramen ovale, Foramen lacerum, Carotid etc....
Becky

Yes, we did start at a really fast pace. We are now on chapter 9. We will go up to chapter 16 for A&P1 and then do the rest in A&P 2.
I hadn't thought about people dropping the class ... I guess I'll find out this week since we got our test results last week.
Good luck to all!!
Yes, people dropped out after the first and second lab exams in my class. I'm not sure how many, 25% maybe.
No advice on how to remember all the tiny little spots on bones, sorry. That wasn't my strong suit. I'm working on all the origins and insertions and actions on muscles for lab exam Friday. Good luck on your bone exam. May you do much better than I did (which won't be hard!)

Good luck with that! We started on muscles this week in lab and we have to know origins, insertions and functions for our lab exam which is about three weeks away (one of those weeks is Spring Break therefore not so useful :rotfl: ).
