A&P 1 Summer 2012 Check In

Published

I'll be registering for my Summer classes tomorrow. And yes I will be taking A&P 1 and it's lab. I've heard so many horror stories about A&P! But I'm trying to stay positive. I've been a CNA for almost 7 years so maybe I'll be able to apply some of what I've learned to A&P. Anyone else out there A&P 1 or 2 this Summer? Let's get this support group started!

I am also starting A&P 1 this summer. I am very excited and at the same time scared as I've heard so many horrible stories too. I am taking it with Eng 1302. It is going to be 8weeks long. I am glad this thread has been started. We can learn from each other. Does anybody know of any tricks in studying AP1?

I start on Monday! I'm excited, but nervous since mine is 5 weeks. I have been reading the chapters for the first test (a few times) since it's after next week and on Chemistry. I am not a big Chemistry person :sniff:. I am currently making a list of the terms so I don't have to waste time flipping through the book (i.e. while making my own note cards) I also have a For dummies work book of A&P, coloring book, A&P flash cards, and anatomy and physiology made easy book.

I had my first quiz on the first day of class. I felt comfortable with turning it in, but it just seemed so easy so I am unsure. I have my first lab quiz on Thursday. It is on four of our labs. I'm nervous! For studying for the quiz I have been reviewing the labs, and making my own diagrams (by tracing the diagrams in the book). Our lab professor is nice enough to tell us what we need to study.

Just had my first lecture exam and got a 96! Agree with some of the previous posters to study EVERY DAY! There is way too much information to try and cram in at the end. Today is our first lab practical and I am not as confindent about that. Those tissues all look like bacon and granite to me!

I have had 4 quizzes in lecture so far. I had a quiz in my lab. I have an A in Lab and a B in lecture. First exam is on Tuesday and first practical is Thursday. We have to know all of the bones by Thursday. We are not allowed a word bank due to the nursing program. Thankfully both lecture and lab instructor are being lenient on spelling. And yes study every day! I am thankful I am quizzed nearly everyday, makes it hard for us to forget the information in such a short amount of time. I feel that typing the notes up after lecture and lab at some point has helped.

Hello Everyone!

Yesterday was my first day of A&P Lab. I must say i was so nervous. The class was scheduled to start around 6:45pm but when i walked in 7 minutes early, the class was full! I found out at the end of class that over 90% of our class also took her for AP Lect which ended 15 minutes before lab started. This is my teachers first time ever teaching. She actually was really nervous herself. She told us that she actually is a waitress at a nearby restaurant. She kept looking in her book and mis-pronounced a few words. Needless to say, it calmed me down that she was as nervous as I was. The class will meet monday's and Wednesday's for the next 10 weeks 6:45pm-8:50pm. Im sure by Monday she will be wellprepared. I order Kaplan note cards and two cd's so that I can practice at home. We only have 300 points possible to pass her course. She will give us a quiz once a week, takes the top 10 quizzes, a mid-term, and a final and there's your points. I dont know how I feel about the grading method, it makes me worry a little. Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys there AP classes this summer !

Our instructor told us yesterday the class average for our first exam was a 68! No wonder it looks like quite a few people have dropped out after that. I did ok but it is hard. So much to remember!

You're AP instructor is a Waitress & can't pronounce the words?! I'd be scared!

I am taking A&P this fall and I am nervous. Is it a hard class? I already bought my books and I think I can do this.

Yes! She is a waitress. I think she was just nervous. She looks really young but she does have her masters:) Wish me luck!

Started A&P 1 Wednesday. Came home and made a Quizlet account so that I can make flashcards.
