A & P 1 2010 sticky thread?

Published

I see there is an old sticky from 2008 A&P and Micro. Can a moderator make one for A&P 1 summer students? That way we can help each other. A few of us have class starting Monday, and it would be nice to have!

What is a sticky note? I'm new to allnurses.com... but I am taking A&P 1 this summer! I'm taking an online class that starts this Monday and would love any help too.

See at the top the threads that have the push pin by them? They are always on the page... I though it might be helpful to have one for current A&P students, instead of one from 2 years ago. My class is online as well! We will have to compare our syllabi (sp?). We are using Marieb 8th edition. Hopefully we can help each other get through this! I'm new also, joined today! I think you have to have 15 posts before you can Private Message. Once we get there we can email each other/help each other study!

Oh yes, I see what you are talking about now. I just joined today as well. We are using Saladin 2nd and printing edition. Definitely! I'd love to have someone help me stay on track. I have a feeling the nice summer weather is going to be so distracting, so we can help each other. I've heard so many stories about how rough this course is, but I have found that working with a study buddy is extremely helpful- we'll ace this course! I'll post more and then we can email from there and get in contact with others taking it this summer too!

I just started my online class on Tuesday. We're using Hole's, and then a workbook called Anatomy & Physiology Revealed. (It came with a REALLY cool DVD, where we can "dissect" a cadaver.)

How is the class so far Kristey? I'm getting nervous about learning it all in a summer session. I work full time and have a 17 month old...(and a husband, those are work too :lol2:) Hopefully it won't be so bad. I just really want to know when our first test is so I can get my ducks in a row. I'm a planner, and not having it all laid out yet is driving me crazy! :uhoh3:

WOW! So you are not required to go to actual labs? That is gonna pretty cool dissecting a cadaver online. :cool:We have to go to actual lab and I noticed in my book that we are dissecting a rat, a cow's eye and a sheep's brain....Well, good luck to you!

I'm taking A&P I starting on July 7, the course is 8 weeks. The class is using for lecture Human Anatomy & Physiology 8th Edition by Marieb. Not sure the title of the lab book. I'm definately interested in participating with other students taking A&P I in a very condensed summer session. ;)

Class is really cool so far. We just started chapter 3 today, so it's going FAST. It's also not too difficult yet, but I've had my book for about 5 weeks and started working ahead so I wouldn't feel overwhelmed. Now when it gets to the last few chapters, it might be a different story. LOL.

I don't have to go to an actual lab, but the DVD we have is really in depth. Granted I don't have to have the fine hand that dissecting in person would, but it shows EVERYTHING in detail. The bonus is that it uses a human cadaver, so I can really see everything. It also has areas for imaging and histology. Another big help with the DVD is the fact that it has a dictionary that pronounces everything if you tell it to. It has come in VERY handy because I am not sitting in a live lecture to hear how a few of these words are supposed to be pronouced. (Granted, none of them are THAT hard, but some of them I complete mispronounce in my head, like Integumentary. LOL)

We are using the same book...but my class is online. Is yours on campus or online? Mine starts tomorrow and runs until Aug 13th. We can access the class starting tomorrow at 4 pm. I'm anxious to see the syllabus. I'd like to know exactly when all the tests are so I can get a battle plan going!

I had all these great intentions of getting started early also, but life (called a 17 month old and a husband...not to mention the full time job) got in the way. I should have made it a priority, but I didn't so now I'm going in with a measly 1 flashcard memorized lol. That lab DVD sounds cool! I haven't put mine in yet to see what's on it.

I took anatomy hybrid version (lectures online - lab on campus) and I really enjoyed it. I have not taken physiology yet. I took it at my local community college and we had a cadaver lab - they were already dissected but it was still a great learning experience to be able to look at real human cadavers. We also dissected a pig heart/brain/eye too.
