We didn't receive a syllabus until the 5th or 6th week of classes (he kept saying that he needed it to be approved by the department). Even then the tests were not listed on the schedule. We've been going really slowly and the first four weeks of class was the cell biology/chemistry sections that most classes skip.

I am really, really frustrated with that man. He doesn't come to class prepared at all (you can see him reading the power point slides before he repeats what the slide says). He has no concept of time. Last week we sat around in class twiddling our thumbs for an hour while he printed out the test (he was having difficulty formatting the test on the computer in the front office), so our test time was reduced from 2 hours to only 1 hour. And, he plays favorites, which p*sses me off (I am not a favorite because I ask questions).

I am pulling an A in this class, but barely. I cannot wait for it to be over!

We got behind in A&P1 last quarter because my professor was in the hospital for a week, but he's really not cramming anything - I suppose if we do rush, it'll be next quarter (A&P3) with all the ******* hard crap. Ah, well...

A&P2 /lecture/ isn't too bad. Lab is shaping up to be the most miserable class in existence.

...I'm also starting to dread my two schooldays a week. Any tips? =/ Getting miserably upset to my stomach is...painful.

nohika, everyone at our school thinks the Lab is Hell too. It is notorious for wrecking grades. People leave our campus once they find out the hard way and do their A&P 2 somewhere else. Thats what I should do for summer, but this campus is real close to my house.

We've got three hundred + terms to learn in three weeks. I have lab once a week...ugh. Plus we have to learn sheep brains, yet the only picture of sheep brains we have is one handout the lab professor gave us. It's like...seriously? We have to learn sheep brains plus tons of models, too. Uggghhh crap I hate lab.

Microbiology lab is shaping up to be fun, though. Least more fun than A&P...

I was on the website for my book doing a quiz for chapter 15 when I got an odd answer.

In the book, they say that taste buds replace themselves every 7 to 10 days, but in the quiz, taste buds was the wrong answer and olfactory neurons was the right answer. (olfactory neurons do replace themselves too)

It said in the feedback "Taste buds cannot replace themselves in adult life."

Can anyone here give me some help figuring this out?

What was the exact question? I might be able to help more if I know the question.

Well it is true that taste buds are not replaced as fast in older people, that's why older people have a reduced sense of taste. Also olfactory receptor neurons do get replaced by neural stem cells.

I've found some answers at my text's website to be wrong -- my prof confirmed it when I checked with him. Check with your teacher to be sure -- you will be helping your classmates who may be learning incorrect information.

walomom, that is so funny you said that, I just got home from school and had to question my teacher on some of the answers I got off the website last night!!

He said that he would have to check on some stuff for me, but it was not gonna be on the test so not to worry about it. (if he thinks we know something he wont ask on the test, figures)

Thanks hopeful us, I showed my teacher today the exact paragraph in my book that says taste buds are among the most dynamic cells in the body and are replaced every 7-10 days.

There was another line in the book saying that the Sclera is avascular and he told me that cant be compeltly right but dont worry about that too, not on the test. Ugh!

I deliberately asked him today if we could go with what the book says (unless he specifically tells us different, because you know the Proff does not cover all material) for studying because of this sort of thing.

Enjoy the class! I'm currently in A&P II and will start the ADN program this summer at the Univ. of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Enjoy!

Here are all my lab photos as well: http://www.flickr.com/photos/agwade/sets/72157622530238834/

Includes: bones, muscles, ligaments, tissues, etc.

Thanks Wade, that was very nice of you to share.
