Hi y'all! Anybody taking A&P 1 this coming spring semester? I'm trying to get as many pre-req's out of the way as possible and could use a study buddy or 2! Thanks! :)

:uhoh3:I'm taking A & P this spring also this will be my third atempt, I made a D on the first try but our professor went to another state so it sort of threw some of us off, but this time I plan on making at least a B,with the help of this forum and you guy's.We'll make it I know that we can.
So far it's going great. It's a LOT of work. Since there is no real lecture time, there is no instructor to put emphasis on anything. So basically we need to know everything the handbook and lab manual (Human Anatomy and Physiology by Marieb). The labs are from the standard lab manual. We have a set of DVD's called Human Anatomy and Physiology Revealed from a university in Ohio. These DVD's have awesome step by step dissection of a human cadaver. It's really very detailed and realistic. We don't really DO labs, we read about them and use the DVD. Then we just turn in the set of questions at the end of the lab. All things considered, I really enjoy studying on my own. I feel like I learn a lot more this way. I also enjoy not having to drive to class or having a noisy neighbor. I do spend a lot of time on this class, really about 16-20hrs/week. I also combine it with ENG101 and CHM130, also online.Good luck everyone![/quote where can I purchase this set of DVD"s for the A & P course,it sounds as though they would be very helpful.

I'm scared of ANP too!!! I've actually started researching the pre-testing that we have to take to get into nursing school. Here in Indiana/Ivy Tech, they use the TEAS testing. I'm too old for this much stress!!!! hehehe..

I Start Full Time On Campus This Spring. I'm 32 And Scared Too Death. I'm Taking 4 Classes Which They Won't Even Let Me Register Yet Because I'm Transferring And They Make You Go Through This Orientation And Talk To A Specific Advisor Before They Let You Pick Your Classes And I've Been Keeping A Ck Online And The Ones I Wanted Are Already Full And Closed And I Dont Even Know Who My Teachers Are Or Anything About Them And I Need To Get Textbooks And Will I Be The Oldest One In Class And What If I Cant Find My Rooms And What If I'm Late And Cant Find A Parking Spot AnD I'VE HEARD HORROR STORIES ABOUT A&P I ..and....i Think I Need A Nerve Pill And I Havent Even Started Yet
Hey, I'm at Ivy Tech also :)
Lennonninja, & others.....
I am at Ivy Tech - Columbus .....anyone near here that will be in the Saturday class?? That is what I am doing for ANP! I only took that and a math class this Spring. I have the Marieb textbook as well! I did not buy my books from the bookstore this time. I got them from Amazon. I got the 3rd Ed./Marieb (Blue cover) & the manual that has picture of skin layers on the front. I hope that is all they require. The colleges are making it harder and harder to get your books not through the bookstore. None of the ISB#'s matched up....so it's sort of a guessing game. I'm sooooo afraid to walk in their unprepared!!!

I am SO happy! Just found out today that I got in to A&P1. It was a mission because there were not enough spaces for everyone- 60 spaces and according to the registration staff 'hundreds applied' and it is the course that is most difficult to get a space in!
I bought the book today and am shocked at how much information there is to absorb, but I'm too happy to get scared about it now (wont help anyway).
Hopefully it will be great- good luck everyone!

Speaking as someone who just finished A&P I, I can tell you yep, you've got to memorize all that. I did it by taking the illustration from my textbook, blacking out all the words like "pollex", "calcaneal", etc. and writing them in myself, over and over, until I had them memorized. You'll find it will serve you well to memorize the early stuff like that, because when it comes to naming muscles, tendons, bones, nerves, etc., you will have a much easier time. "Oh, the calcaneal tendon? I know that must be somewhere in the area of the heel!" "The frontal bone? That must be on the forehead!" "The mental foramen? Let me look on the chin for that!"
They won't be all that easy, but lots of them are, and it makes your workload a teensier bit easy if you get the early stuff down pat. Also, practice locating organs, bones, etc. that are superior/inferior, lateral/medial, anterior/posterior, etc. to other objects. Getting the comfortable with directional language like that will also be a big help.
Don't freak out at anything I've said -- It's all in your book, and you'll get to it quickly at the beginning of the semester. Don't feel like you must learn it ahead of time in order to succeed in A&P. Good luck to you all!
