I've seen several things about how hard A & P and Micro Biology are and people who take them together don't have a life...How hard is it really?
I'm thinking about taking them together Fall 2017 and topping them off with an intro to Spanish class. Does that sound do-able?
I know the prof who teaches Micro and she's very nice, and easy to work with. I took her this semester with Biology 1107, she told me that it was a hard course. I came out of the class with A's on lab and lecture. Now I did study hard, I asked for help when I didn't understand something...We started with like 36 people in the lab and ended with around 18.
I really need to take them together if I want to reach my goal of making it into nursing school by 2018 (with ALL my prereqs out of the way!) so...any insight?
I took A&P 1 & 2, microbiology, stats, and psych last summer. It was hard, not going to lie. Micro was a lot more involved and harder for me than A&P, but I think part of that was the instructor (the 2 A&P instructors I had were a lot more relaxed). I allowed myself 1 day per week to have fun, because if I didn't have a mental break I wouldn't have made it through the summer. It's definitely doable, but be prepared to spend a good amount of time studying.
I just finished Human Anatomy and Micro!! Took my micro final today and anatomy final yesterday.. micro was by far WAY more difficult.. it was SO much information... labs were fun tho.. I loved anatomy! The practicals were super fun, stressful, but fun... it was just a bunch of memorization which I am good at...
taking them together is definitely doable.. I don't work, so my only focus is school tho..
Hi Liveinthemoment, you can do it! I just finished this semester taking Micro, honors A&P 202 and Statistics along with an English 102 class, all with A's. It is doable but you will need tons of study time. If you want it bad you can do it. Quite a few people at my school completed both in the same semester, so it isn't unheard of and can be done. One really great part of it for me is that many of the concepts overlapped such as immunity and basic cell energy use, etc., so I enjoyed learning from both sides. If you are a good student and know how to study, you will be fine. I say go for it and make your dreams come true.

Wow! Sounds like you were busy! Thanks for the encouragement. Was the A & P combined at ur school into one class? It seems others are saying theirs is not. I wonder if that would make it harder if it's two separate classes (well I'm sure it would because the more professors you have to get used to the harder it is).
I feel like a lot of it is going to depend on the professor(s) you have & how intense their curriculum is.... I've never personally taken 2 science classes at the same time, but my friend/former lab partner did! She said it wasn't too bad as long as she 1) stayed organized, 2) didn't procrastinate & 3) stayed on top of the studying.
What I would recommend for people like me who are working full time while taking classes is to look at your syllabus on the first day and try to request days off the day before and if possible the day of a test. I have vacation pay I can use for those requests, but it made all the difference to have a full day before an exam after studying for weeks before work, on break, and after work.

A&P I was harder for me because it is more memorization I am more of a conceptual learner. A&P ll and Micro were hard but really interesting because you have more complex systems. I just finished my first year of nursing school and let me tell you... You'll be thankful they're hard. You need the foundation to be able to understand the pathophysiology of nursing. Nursing is not necessarily harder but it is a lot more in depth along with a very different testing style.
I got A's in my classes. So with all of that being said... if you think you are a good student and can take the challenge and really dedicate your time I'd say go for it!
