well, as long as you checked anxiously! sorry .. this must be really hard waiting! hugsokay, last night i was looking online for a good explanation/animation of muscle contractions and the whole actin myosin crossbridge concept. it just really helps to get it into my head to "see it" .. if that makes me a doubting thomas, so be it!
here's what i found but if anyone has anything else, let me know!

karen,
thank you soooooo much for sharing these websites!!!! :thankya: i pretty much understood muscle contractions, but these helped my studying even more!

I haven't been on in a while just feeling kind of depressed I have been trying what I thought was very hard but Anatomy isn't going very well for me. This coupled with Psychology not going well is really making me wonder if I can succeed in Nursing. I feel like giving up a lot,but haven't dwelled on that as a final decision just yet...I really want this badly I just rather not cry about it anymore. I have used the resources available at my school and so far not good I get two exams back monday I am certain anatomy practical lab will be failed because I couldn't even fill out all 80 of the possible answers. God help me I am trying what I think is my best and praying everyday for the strength to get through this successfully.
I will keep you in my prayers also!! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other! Even if you have to take longer than you first expected, you can do this!!!! HUGS .... talk here whenever you feel like you need to or PM me!I haven't been on in a while just feeling kind of depressed I have been trying what I thought was very hard but Anatomy isn't going very well for me. So, can anyone tell me how bad the test is for muscles?
We don't start this chapter until next Thursday, but I wanted to get a head start on it this weekend, and OMG it looks crazy!!
I feel like tearing my hair out. I've been reading and re-reading and writing my flashcards, but I still don't understand muscle contractions. I even went to the sites that kayel posted, I understand it "a little", but not all of it.
People I have talked to tell me that A&P gets easier, but I sure don't feel like it is any easier, I feel like it's harder.

thanks kayel, for the websites. i have a feeling i will be going to them often.
I don't know how the test for muscles is but I have heard that it gets easier also. I think the professor here said it's mainly because at first a lot of learning the parts/names, etc. is somewhat pure memorization and it all falls into place more, particularly when you get into the second semester and find out more about how all the parts work together. Ha, what a sucky explanation I wrote there .. I even zoned out there for a minute while I was typing so hope it didn't put you to sleep too. lolSo, can anyone tell me how bad the test is for muscles? We don't start this chapter until next Thursday, but I wanted to get a head start on it this weekend, and OMG it looks crazy!!

I have noticed already that it feels like they are unrolling a piece of parchment reaaaaaalllllly slowly (while at the same time breakneck speed) and I can see only part of the picture at a time .. then when I get to the next part of the explanation, I think, "ohhh I get it, why didn't they say that in the first place?" Obviously I would not have been ready/able to understand it if the whole parchment was open in front of me all at once and I would have run screaming out of the parchment room!
Ok, I have really been wasting time lately so today I have to buckle down and get some of this under my belt, as well as work on some other courses. As far as the muscle contraction thing, I think a basic general understanding is all that's required. You could likely answer individual m/c questions on the process without necessarily having a full grasp of it. Of course, that drives me nuts until I completely understand it (so, therefore, am driven nuts most day so of my life) but I'm trying to just remember to take it in pieces.
Excuse me, I'm going to now draw the bones on my own hand. No, no, don't try to stop me.

Tiffy this sounds just like the thread I posted last Monday after my lab exam. I did horrible I just know it. I didn't fill out like 10 answers because my mind went blank. That was my first time ever taking a lab exam. I received a C+ on the first lecture exam and I thought I really studied. I sort of felt like I was not going to be able to do this. I am still going to keep trying though, and you do too:) What section are you on. I went and purchased the coluring book and started that yesterday. This is a very hard class to me, and I also wish I didn't take it with any other classes, but I am just going to have to work harder. I just wanted to say hopefully it will get better for you. I found out my lab grade on test tomorrow also:uhoh21: Good luck to the both of us!!!
Thanks this week we will be doing muscles in lab quiz as well as the next lecture exam which is friday. I wish you the best of luck if there is a will there is a way.:)Tiffy this sounds just like the thread I posted last Monday after my lab exam. I did horrible I just know it. Here are a few more good animations on action potentials .. http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/matthews/animate.html
[oh I guess that's from one of the websites I posted earlier, but that's the main animations menu LOL]
