A&P I & II + Microbiology for one semester

Published

My question to you all is... Did my advisor and I make a mistake when making my class schedule. You guys are talking about how difficult those classes are. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

At my school you can't do II until you do I. You also can't do micro until A&P I is done. I did II with micro and it wasn't too bad. I also had 3 other classes. I got an A in A&P II and a B in micro. I thought it was going to be the other way around but I realized I really had to focus on A&P II since they count the points from that class for the entrance to nursing school.

I'm with heather --- how on earth can you take A&P 1 and 2 at the same time? If you are taking them one at a time in a 1/2 semester type course then I still wouldn't recommend taking them with Micro because of the speed and amount of studying that will be required.

I took A&P I and Micro at the same time.. Along with 2 other courses and did it with all A's, BUT it is butt busting.

Ummmm let me be very blunt with you.... yes I think its a HUGE mistake to take all of those classes at once.... as other people posted you should not even be able to register for A&P 2 until you finish 1..... I don't know what "advisor" would advise that! Those classes are the fundamentals to which all of your nursing education builds on.... and if you aren't accepted into a program yet, you want to make sure your grades in those classes are the best they can be.... The point of my mini rant is that I think you are setting yourself up for failure.... I got an B+ in both A&P classes and an A in the other one, but if I took them all at the same time, I doubt I would have done as well.

I'm not sure how you can take A&P I and II at the same time. Regardless, if you are able to spread out your prereqs a bit, do it, so that you can focus on getting the best grade possible in them. I tried taking all three at once many years ago (our A&P are separate classes), and I literally almost killed myself. It was awful. I had to eventually drop them and retake them later, because I was doing so poorly and spreading myself so thin. Of course I was also working.

Good day:

All three are very intense courses; two at a time is manageable, but all three... maybe, but it would be extremely difficult to keep a good grade in all of them.

Thank you.

How in the world did that happen? On my Accuplacer it did recommend A&P I and II as well as Microbiology but was told I can't take II and Micro without A&P I. I personally wouldn't have done it to myself but I know my limitations. A&P I and II are what counts to get into the program and I would focus on 1 at a time because it seems as if you are overstretching yourself. Can you get that changed?

I wouldn't say so. Everyone is different. My school does the same with Anatomy, you can take I and II at same time, or one after another, even going II to I.

It depends on your time management and multitasking ability. I just finished Bio II, A&P I, and Micro this past semester, all with labs, 15 credit hours and got a 4.0. Everyone is different. If you feel that you can do it and succeed with HIGH grades (always aim for As), then do it. Many people try to multitask and do decent in all their classes, but not great in one.

If I can do that all with a newborn daughter, you can do it. Anyone can if they put their minds to it, stay ahead of the readings, and most importantly TIME MANAGEMENT.

Eager to hear how you do.

Gotta be honest, I read the title and thought "oh lawd this person is crazy :nailbiting:" But really, it depends on what else you have going on in your life. Do you work? Have kids? I'd never say anything was IMPOSSIBLE, but if you have other responsibilities besides school I would really reconsider that course load. Ultimately you want to have the best grades possible, especially in sciences. You know yourself best.

Hey everybody! Thank you all for your thoughts and opinions. I will say that I do not work or have children. When I sat down to register, this adviser did not mention the fact that I might have a slight issue with taking all of these classes in one semester. I am already scheduled 15 hours for my first semester with a "preparing you for college" class which I think is a waste of money and time. I have a english, physcology, math, and a elective. She said all that leaves for next semester IS A&P I II and microbiology. I guess I need to switch some stuff up.Also it is an option to take both I and II at the same time.

Good day, sunshine&shots:

If you can check out the text books (it is common for 1 book to be used for both A&P 1 & 2) that the courses use along with getting a syllabi in advance for each class, you might be able to determine which two are easier to take during the same semester.

Thank you.

I appreciate that advice! Thanks a bunch and I will.
