Hi...I'm Mary. I"m a dual major for the next year...I'll be taking the last of my nursing pre-reqs and also a certificate program for Pharmacy Tech. It's a have-to...I have to maintain full-time status for financial aid and there's not a whole lot else available at my school for me to take as filler courses. So...I'll be taking AP 1, Nurse's Aide, and the first of my Pharmacy Tech technical courses. 16 credits. I think it's great to get our support system set up nowl!!

Mary,

Welcome! It sounds like you have an interesting plate full coming up. why are you taking a nurses aid class and Pharm Tech classes? I didn't think that the CNA class was req'd at PPCC for their RN program? I just graduated with an AAS in Networking Technology. And I'm taking a couple classes then going down to CSU Pueblo to finish my last couple pre-reqs and starting their BSN hopefully in Spring of 2010. I only have 7 pre-req classes left. I can't wait to get them all done and get my acceptance letter into the program... Which is a long time away. lol Well only about a year or so. I just got back from a week in Puerto Vallarta Mexico that marked my first year anniversary.

OK...about the CNA class, it may not be required everywhere, but at my college,it is a requirement that we complete the Nurse's Aide classes prior to starting the actual RN program unless we already have STNA certification, which I don't. I didn't know until I read your post that it isn't required everywhere...I just assumed that it was.

About Pharmacy Tech...My college requires at least 12 credit hours per quarter to be considered full-time for financial aid. Since I already got one degree from that college, I took all of the Gen Ed with that except for A&P 1 and 2 and Microbiology. I don't start the program until fall 09. Rather than sitting at home and forgetting what I've already learned for a year, I wanted to keep going. With the Gen Ed already taken, the Pharmacy Tech program gives me one course each quarter which will give me the 12 credits per quarter that I need for my grants. Plus, if something goes wrong with me in the nursing program, I figure it'll give me another alternative to fall back on for employment

Sounds like my schedule..I'll be taking 18 credits worth, thanks to not paying attention to the currculum for my extra major...since I'm doing pe-nursing and Pharmcy Tech together, I'll have A&P 1, Nurse's Aide training, Pharmacy Tech 1 and Customer Relations. The Custmer Relations course is done completely online, which means that at least I can work on it at home...Growth and Development wasn't a bad course for me...I aced it. I think that Chemistry and A&P together would be murder, though!!

Hi all,

I'm taking A&P I and Psyc. Human Growth & Development this fall. I just finished taking Biology, Psychology and the Art Appreciation class from hell! I hope I don't get another teacher like my art teacher! I was glad when it was over. :yeah:

I took A&P 1 Spring 08 and made a C. This summer I'm taking A&P 2 and Algebra. I have Chemistry, Micro, and English Comp left. I've taken a Humanities course, but I made a C, so I think that I'm going to take a different Humanities class so that I can improve my grade. If anyone is in Jacksonville and interested in forming any kinds of study groups(NAT, A&P, Micro...) let me know!lol2.gif
