Here is a quote from the BSN community site mentor:

"Hi everyone! I know that there have been some rumors about finishing the RN-BSN program in 6 months, and I wanted to clear up those rumors.

A 6 month finish is highly unlikely due to the fact that certain courses can't be taken in the same term;please speak to your mentor about this. However we encourage and support students to accelerate through courses at their own pace It IS possible to finish the program in two terms (12 months) - and I have actually heard of students completing it in as little as 10 months - but 6 months is definitely very difficult. I know this may be disappointing to those of you who may have been hoping to finish it in 6 months, and I do apologize for that."

I finished by BSN in 3 months and 7 days. It's do-able.

Hi how many credits did you have to do for the bsn at ?

I also graduated from . I think with the old curriculum it was very possible if motivated and with good time management; not too difficult just time consuming. There were classes you could finish in a week and some that would take longer. Also it would depend on how many credits you had transferred in. To me the people who finished in 6 months or less averaged about 23 credits. Forgive me if I dont remember exactly. It also helps if you are knowledgeable about the subject area, and to develop a system for completing papers and studying. I was similar in that I was able to complete community health and practicum in the same semester. If the curriculum was how it is now I probably would have went elsewhere. However, I'm still glad I went and would recommend it to others for cost and flexibility.

You did this under the new curriculum?

No the old curriculum.

I finished in five months, but I did have a Bachelor in Business also, so I had to complete 27 credits for the BSN. I continued to work full time also.

Mary, you continually impress me! I'm giving myself 18 months for the MSN, but that's crazy amazing. Was your capstone on back injuries? Shift work sleep disorders? I can't remember.

You're very kind - my thesis/ capstone was on how night shift nurses learn to cope with circadian disruptions.

Mind you, I had NO LIFE during that 18 months.

marycarney, i just started with BSN, my first class is RUC1...it seems everyone is having a hard time with this class. Any pointers? i could use any help possible. Haven't taken the pre assess yet, but from reading all the posts on wgu website there are a lot that have taken it more than 3 times. nervous wreck. Any help out there, greatly appreciated.

I completed my BSN in 2011 under 4-5 months so it is doable. The MSN is what takes longer due to capstone.

You did it under the old program - this thread is about whether or not it can be done under the new program.

Specializes in Outpatient/Clinic, ClinDoc.

I am under the new program (started june 1) and have almost completed the program. One more class and I just need to finish my practicum and I am done. So it's possible, but you need to work at it really really hard. :)
