UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

desjt3 - I live behind Spring High. Klein is right down the street on Louetta. We could meet up and car pool as well. The bus is $10/day which is expensive in my opinion and not much cheaper than buying gas. Although you don't have to put the miles on your own car.

Hi All - I finally joined!!! I applied for the Spring session and was not accepted :-( So try try again...here I am. I also live in Spring, about 5 minutes from Spring High School. Last year when I went to orientation someone said that Metro has a special price for students. I just talked to metro and you can catch a bus from any of the park and ride locations to downtown. From downtown, you catch the rail over to UT. The fare is $3.75 to down town and $1.25 out to UT. Students that register with Metro can get ½ off their fare. So $5.00/day round trip daily. Not too bad, considering parking is $10, not to mention the gas.

I have not received anything – no transcript evals… Also, it shows that I still need to report my HESI, however, I was told that all is fine. It just makes me a little nervous.

I’ll post if I get any news or info...

the bus works great for me! i live in the houston area and with the student card i spend 1.25 all day bus+plus train, with gas prices being the way they are, its a big relief

Idk if you guys feel this way but right now I feel super low. The fact that many of our lives are in a standstill moment sucks. I wish we could know and finally starting moving on with our lives ): god I am praying we all get in and praying even harder that we find out soon so these nerves and emotiOns stop driving us insannne!

I feel the same way. The not knowing is killing me! I feel as if I'm wasting time. But, I know in the end it will all be worth it, one way or another. We just have to keep going, one second at a time. At least it's already March. April isn't that far away. We can do this. (Keep saying this to yourself over and over.)

my hesi scores has nt been updated too but i recieved a transcript eval but when i called them they said they have my scores but am still nervous

@ delisal and @ desjt3 -- It seems we 3 live in Spring so that would be great to commute together whether it be the park and ride or in one of our cars. I found the Park and Ride at Spring and it would be around $6/day round trip according to the website planning for Metro. The only issue I saw again with this is the same as the Woodlands Express in that the outbound buses don't start til a little later in the day. They do have one at 12:30ish provided we leave class exactly at 12. I also applied to TWU and it's next door so either way we could probably work something out.

Plus studying partners!! Yay!!

go to the metro store and get a student card its half off total

Thanks Saraiish. I had calculated the price with the student discount added in already. I saw on their website that they offered it. Will definitely do that!

Get a Q Card!! It has saved so much money for many of my classmates and myself. I know a lot of people commute from The Woodlands and they don't seem to have any problems getting to school or back!

@ sweetipie, delisal and desjt3, I also live in The Woodlands/Spring area. Maybe a fourth could make it a little cheaper! The more the merrier, right? I have applied at UTHSC and TWU, so hopefully we all end up at the same school!

Best of Luck to Everyone! Come on UT, hurry up!

@ spring hopeful

absolutely! I also applied to TWU and they are across the street so either way we can make it work.

I'm so tired of waiting! I'm going crazy! I would hate to be applying to the accelerated program. Their deadline was Nov 1 and they still haven't heard!

Anybody think we are getting close to hear anything?
