St Joseph's College of Maine FNP program students

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

I wanted to start this thread for all of the new (and current) students at Saint Joseph's College of Maine FNP program.

Any info, news, updates or questions/concerns could be asked here for all the new and current students.

Any advice that the current students can give us new students would be greatly appreciated :)

For example...

1. How many books are required for NU 501?

2. Has setting up clinicals been difficult?

3. Have the current students had any trouble communicating with your advisors? Do they get back to you promptly?

4. Overall, how has the experience been? Are you glad you are in this program?

Thanks so much!

I am interested in apply to SJC next fall. So are most of you pleased thus far? How is the course load for the working person? I will continue to work FT. Is it manageable or do you find the time comittment overwhelming? Thanks in advance!

I have been able to do it while working full time with two kids and a third on the way. I've been completing each class in about two months. I could probably do it faster if I werent so exhausted from pregnancy! Good luck. It's a lot of papers. I downloaded a program from the Internet called PERRLA which automatically puts your papers in the APA format and keeps your references for future papers. I buy my books from half.com which are considerably less than the bookstore!

I'm about to finish up on nursing politics. Interesting class. There is a quiz in unit 4 but it isn't timed. Good luck. I used both books that were required for the class.

Thank you for the info. I was hoping to make the deadline for Oct 1 application but they will need my transcripts which won't likely be ready. I'm reading that some students started matriculating in while waiting for the final paperwork. Do you know if this is feasible? It sounds like I can work and have a family without going crazy!?? I have PERRLA also which helps with papers. So you take one class at a time and have 15 weeks to complete it, but can move faster if you want, correct? Do you feel it is a good school? I want to be prepared! Thanks so much for the tips! Any negatives, regrets, etc. You can PM also. This is a big deal for me as I am an older student wanting to make the best choice I can. :uhoh3:
