What is your dream job?

Let me start by saying I LOVE my current gig. The hours are perfect, I work with great staff, I have a 15 minutes commute...

BUT, if I were to describe a job where I could be doing anything, I would love to be working out in the community doing home visits for moms with newborns. When I worked as a Nurse Practitioner, I specialized in newborns and all the new babies would come to me for their first pediatrician visit after being discharged from the hospital. I loved all of the teaching, reassuring the worried parents, catching issues before they became a problem, and of course, getting to snuggle with all those sweet babies.

Ideally I would love to find a program where I could use my Spanish and visit at-risk families with new babies. I haven't been able to find anything like this in my community. Like I said, I love what I am doing right now, but I would consider a change if something as I described was an option.

What about everyone else?

Ooh I forgot to mention selling beer at the ball park. Like, I want to be one of the people walking around with the crate full of beer (or hot dogs or peanuts or popcorn or cotton candy, anything really)at a baseball game. I'm working on my "COLD BEER HERE!!" voice.

Bucket list job for sure.

I'm not sure how much fun hauling beer around would be, maybe something lighter like cotton candy. BUT our local minor league stadium has ushers - and THAT would be a great gig.

LOL....I can tell you from experience that job is not all fun and games :) We spent many summer nights working at our Major league baseball field to raise extra money for our clogging team - ran beer stands and walked around yelling "COLD BEER". Hard work for a little bit of money. Our cut was like 8% of whatever we made - extra bonus if somehow you collected more money than what was sold & it sucked if you came up short - they took the short money from our cut.

Yeah cotton candy maybe.

Now that I think about it, if I sold peanuts I know all it would take is once for me to accidentally say "member" instead of "peanuts" and then there I'll be, walking around the stadium giggling like a first grader.

This first one isn't necessarily my dream job, but it is definitely where I want to start out. I am a tech right now going through nursing school and I work on a PCU mainly designated for strokes. When I graduate, I really want to stay on my floor. My coworkers are amazing, my boss (while I don't see her all that much) is accommodating, and I feel like my floor would make for a great learning experience. Variety of conditions, and the acuity of most patients isn't super high. The biggest reason why I want to start out here is that my coworkers are ALWAYS willing to help/teach. I've seen many techs become nurses on my floor and while it will always be difficult to make that transition, it seems to make it that much easier for them.

My dream job (this will probably change a little as I go through more environments in my clinicals) is to be either a family practice or neonatal nurse practitioner. I believe the NP part will stay the same, but who knows if I will be drawn to other specialties. I am keeping an open mind.

Lol, this is great!!! I was going to say stripper as a joke but didn't want anyone to think I was weird!! My former nursing job was no lie down the street from a strip joint. Every time I passed it while driving to work, I thought to myself, I actually might rather be working there right now instead of working with 38 patients by myself for the whole night!! My husband would get so angry with me when I told him that. My job was that bad at the time that I would have done that! And I'm as shy as they come, I don't even wear a bathing suit at the beach!

My dream job is not having a high patient to 1 nurse ratio haha

Using my BFA in Musical Theatre (graduated in 2013) to travel the world performing on cruise lines, national/international tours, on Broadway, and on other amazing stages. :) Tbh though, my second choice would be Pediatric Oncology DO.
