Totally Off Topic: Thanksgiving Menu

I would love to hear what everyone is serving for their Thanksgiving meal, or making, or if you are going out to a restaurant instead (we have done this three times and it is awesome).

I am hosting just my sister this year, so there will be me, my husband, my sister and my two kids (9 and 11):

Turkey

Stuffing

Gravy

Mashed potatoes

Cranberry Sauce

Sweet potatoes/marshmallows (sister bringing)

Roasted brussles spprouts with shallots and bacon

Corn souffle

Crescent rolls

Peacn pie (sister bringing)

Chocolate silk pie

We always do bagels and lox for breakfast Thanksgiving morning. In our town, the HS football team plays the town next door at 10am. We always go to that game, then come home and eat around 1 or 2 PM. No appetizers or anything b/c we do it as a lunch. Then of course Turkey gobbler sandwiches for dinner that night :)

What do you do?

It is just me and hubbs this year. The 20 year old is doing Thanksgiving with Boyfriends' family, the 19 year old is doing Thanksgiving with their bio dad (Wasbund).

We have a 14 lb turkey, cuz hubbs loves to have the turkey, lol...but finally no pressure in the cooking of it and stuff :)

I think we'll do:

Turkey

Rolls

Mashed Potatoes

Gravy

Salad

Pecan Pie

Dutch Apple Pie (his fave)

Oh, we are going to hubbs' family on Thanksgiving day (just me and him) -- they are serving chicken enchiladas (wth)...aaaannnnd I don't eat cheese, but they are planning to accommodate. I think a swell accommodation would be to just MAKE A TURKEY...but...what do I know? lol

Yaaasss!! Let's talk Thanksgiving!! I work Wed night, so I prepped most of the time intensive things today.

I boiled the the chicken and am currently simmering the broth for the gumbo!!

I made the roux and diced the bell peps, onion, garlic and celery for the gumbo.

I grated and sliced the cheeses for the mac n cheese!

I sliced the andouille sausage for the gumbo.

Besides gumbo and mac n cheese, we're having green beans and potatoes with smoked ham hocks and peach cobbler.

It's what the kids wanted!!

PS It's just me and 2 kids, 1 11yr old and 1 21 yr old. My house is small and my family is small but it's still Thanksgiving and I'm thrilled to celebrate with them.

My schedule is...interesting. Not a school nurse-I work in med-surg. I'm working the night before and the night after thanksgiving. Thanksgiving Day I'm actually off, which means I get home around 9am on the actual holiday.

I'm late to the party here since for us Thanksgiving is tonight. The kids work retail, so Black Friday that has turned in to Black Thursday in recent years derailed any plans for yesterday or early today. Funny, it's usually my work schedule that makes holiday plans change.

My mom, my sister, my nephew, my daughter and her wife, my husband and I will be there.

Menu is crazy for so few people, my mom has a habit of cooking for about 50 people instead of 6. There is the required Thanksgiving turkey, I believe about a 12 pounder this year. Then add two 6 1/2 lb ducks and a 7 lb prime rib. That's only the meat course! There's also green bean casserole, corn, fresh cinnamon apple cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and various appetizers. Finish up with pumpkin, apple and cherry cheesecake pie. We'll be eating leftovers for at least a week!

Ahhh, I thought you had the recipe and made it yourself. I'll have to ask around work for a tried and true recipe.

Ill try and get the recipe~

I know I'm late, but: I went to South Lake Tahoe for the first time and experienced snow for the first time in my life! Thanksgiving was amazing. When up to Heavenly and made my first snowman. Then for dinner we went to a Hotel buffet and I almost had to roll myself back to my own hotel room.

How fun! I can't imagine having never seen snow. I live in the Great White North and frankly most years I see way more snow than I would like. But I still couldn't imagine not having snow during Christmas, the idea of decorating a palm tree instead of a pine tree is just wrong.
