Right there with ya! I got an email from the principal - he forwarded from the District Announcements (the superintendent had originally put it out, after the Director of Health Services sent it to him) - with a note tacked to the bottom that said, "Thank you Nurse ______" for all you do.

1st - this man throws a temper tantrum if I'm not here

2nd - I hate being called "Nurse (my last name)"

To quote Charlie Brown, "I got a rock":grn:

I got one mention as well, and nothing from administration. This is even after I gave myself a shameless plug about School Nurse Day on my weekly wellness message that I do every Wednesday. Oh well, just another day in paradise!

Nobody in my actual school said anything to me. We have state testing going on - so it's turmoil here anyhow. Whatevs... i still got a little love elsewhere

My office clerk did remember on Tuesday - since she wouldn't see me yesterday she brought me a violet plant:redpinkhe. And we had a district wide meeting of the 7 nurses and our overall supervisor and he did have some cheese and crackers to nibble on in the meeting. That was sweet too.

One teacher remembered yesterday and had her students write me letters (very cute from 1st graders). I went home last night feeling sorry for myself. Today the front office called me down and had flowers and donuts for me. They also sent an e-mail out this morning to the teachers saying it was school nurse day today. I have to admit the principal was very red in the face when I told him it was actually YESTERDAY! :)

So, in honor of nurse's week and the great big nothing I got from my school, I decided to wear jeans yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Yes, I know I'm only supposed to wear them on Fridays, but 1) it's nurse's week and 2) it's better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission, right? Principal looked straight at me today and we had a five minute convo about me sending a teacher home this morning because her dog attacked her and she probably needed stiches. (side note: he was mad at me because I didn't tell her to check with him (she was still bleeding when she came in) and this should tell you something about him - this teacher would rather come to work BLEEDING than to call in). Anyway, he says nothing about my jeans. The bookkeeper on the other hand corners me and tells me how unfair it is that I can "get away" with this and nobody else can and how she got in trouble for wearing tan pants that had "jean-like" pockets one time. Basically, I think she is going to cause trouble for me because she's petty like that. Yep. Happy nurse's week to me.

:redbeatheI am so happy I have ya'll! :redbeathe Thank you for being my fellow school nurses. :redbeathe Thank you for reminding me I'm human when I make mistakes. :redbeathe Thank you for all your advice and support over the past three years. :redbeathe Thank you for being under-appreciated and still coming to work everyday. :redbeathe Thank you for being the great people you are!

Hey all of you fellow school nurse's out there not gettin' enough love.

This morning my principal gave me a shout out in morning announcements about how much they love me. Very sweet.

However, the best one was from one of my little hispanic kindergarten girls. I was walking past them while they were lined up in the hallway. She says real fast in a thick accent, "There's our nurse. She is too much nice. I 'lub' her."

So, ladies and gentlemen out there hang tough because I am sure all of your students out there 'lub' you too.

That made my day.

I hope it makes yours too.

I appreciate everything you do for these kids.

Have a great nurse week.

LOL - I got a latte and candies from the office staff in two of my buildings. I am so jazzed on caffeine :) because I always buy one on the way in, so had double my dose yesterday and today.

Happy nurses week everyone - its "Friday eve"!

Teacher's week was the week before and I was invited to share in the luncheon that the principal had prepared for them. It was good.

The school nurses in our county meet once a month with the public health nurses - they had a cake and strawberries for school nurse day for us.

I never cared for the Nurse's Day stuff at the hospital and don't really care about it at the school either. I like the idea of the kids being grateful for you - I'd love to hear "i lub you".

I still work hospice - our local hospital decided to just go with Hospital Week as there are so many days to remember (CNA Day, Radiology Day, Surgical Tech Day, Doctor's Day . . .etc.).

They had an entire week of goodies - ice cream sundaes, a bbq, etc.

I appreciate you all - as a new school district nurse, I need all the help I can get!
