Random Question: med keys?

Probably a weird and random question, but I am curious where you all keep your med keys when you go home for the day? Do you take them with you, or stash them somewhere in your office? Right now I take them home, because my secretary and the principal both have extra sets in case I am absent, but I am thinking it might be good to stash them and just take the key to my main office door with me. In the event I am ever out and have a sub (yeah right) it would make it easier for them, and since my clerk is usually my backup when I don't have a sub, it would be easier for her not to have to hound the secretary or principal (I know the logical solution is to give her the secretary's set, but that would cause more conflict than it's worth).

So, stash them in my desk? I am paranoid about them being found and God forbid some ADHD meds turn up missing! Where is a better hiding place? File cabinet maybe?

Or, feel free to laugh and point fingers at me for waaay overthinking this really minor issue, lol! Have a good Friday!

Hi Purple !

I keep my med cart keys with me. The office has the extra keys to my cart and the clinic. I do not trust hiding them here somewhere.

We have two set of keys- My set goes home with me, the other set is locked in the safe in the office.

My main set of keys with my badge, door key, file cabinet key, AED key, med cabinet key, and med cart key go home with me each night. There is a spare set of keys hanging on a hook behind my desk in my office that has a key to the med cart, med cabinet, and AED on it. My office is locked each night, so I have to have my set with me.

So sounds like most everyone takes theirs home too. Maybe I will just keep going that route. Thanks, as always! Let the countdown to Spring Break commence!

I take them home because I have a clinic assistant. But if I didn't, I would give them to the principal's secretary. 7 Days to go for Spring Break! Yeah!!! :) :) :)

I have two sets of keys, so i keep one set with me and one set is in the office with all the other keys. They're marked "clinic" so if i'm out, someone can get in there and give my ADHD meds. I don't lock up my inhalers, epipens or diabetes supplies.

This is exactly what I do too.

I lock the clinic door when I leave and the office door is locked when they leave each day.

I do not have a clerk, the position is open. I am only at my school 2 days a week. 2 front office ladies cover the clinic, the key is stashed in a box on my desk (under some papers). I now have an inhaler missing and 3 times I have walked in with the keys hanging in the cabinet lock. Enough said!
