:clown: I checked 7 heads before 11am. Four sisters with long, thick hair full of lice. Ugh. I feel sorry for their parents--I wouldn't want to be in their shoes. Of course, the teachers are all skeeved now. All I can say is lice gives me Job Security.:D

I hope the parents don't go and chop off their long thick hair. I hate when they do that :( I feel your pain, I am sure my time is coming. I've been lucky so far this year.

i've already had to check a few heads - a few infestations, a few dry scalps...

makes me grab and dab my own head with my trusty bottle of tea tree oil every time though...

Yep! Already heard the "it must be you not doing your job" statement from a few parents. Oh well, it was really getting me down a couple of weeks ago. Now I'm over it. This is my first year and BOY have I had an awakening. Sent 4 students home one day out of the same class.

Lice has been on the rise at our school too! So much that last night I had a dream that they were falling out of my hair! lol! :)

I've heard that occasionally from ignorant parents- when i ask to check their heads and show them through old nits that the infestation has been going on since summer time, they usually get very quiet.:hlk:

It is just a nuisance NOT a health problem!! i had a parent tell me that she would not send her kid to a school that "gave" her kid lice. Thing is, her kid was the only one in the class with it. Hmmmmmmm, don't let the door hit your **** on the way out!

Excuse my ignorance, but I'm pretty new at this! What do old nits versus new nits look like???

Oh, and I've encountered parents who have gotten very angry with me when I tell them the kids have lice (hey, sorry but it's your kid, not mine.....) Others just don't believe me (OK, I'm just making this up to cause you to have a bad day!) And I cringe when a child says "oh no, my mother is going to be so mad at me...the poor kid didn't choose to have lice!!

How would this be the nurses fault that a kid has lice? How is it really anyone's fault? Doesn't it just happen sometimes with no one to blame? Once you know there is a problem, treat the head and pick the nits every day, right? Or do parents think the school nurse should be doing the nit picking? If so that is CRAZY... Oh the poor kids who have parents that get mad at them for getting lice. :crying2:
