Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

It's something I stress about every day. I have a 3.69. What was yours before you applied to a nursing program?

Seems like everyone on here is getting a 4.0. What deterred you from medical school with those kind of grades?
I'm 43 years old, I did research and found out how competitive RN school is, so I study a lot to get a 4.0.
I was told the first day of LPN school if you want to get into a RN program, you must have close to a 4.0 to get in, so I worked hard and got a 4.0 and was valedictorian of my class.

People don't usually go to nursing school just because they aren't smart enough for med school. It seems to be a commonly held misconception. They're two completely different approaches to patient care. People who go to nursing school are there because its their passion, not because they couldn't get in to med school.

I agree with the PP. Medical school is to study medicine while nurses deal more with caring for the patient. Also, you should probably ask people who were accepted to the program you hope to get into what their pre req GPA was just because they can give you a better idea of what your possible program accepts or demands. From an outside perspective, a 3.69 is good.

3.88 GPA with 6 kids (ages...1, 4, 4, 5, 9, and 11). I also work 20 hours a week. Pretty busy time for me, but nursing school will be even more insane.
That's seriously impressive!

I am 33, mom to 5 kids ages 5-15 with a current GPA of 4.0. I have my last 3 pre req's this spring semester (A&P 2, PSYC 101 and college algebra). Taking my TEAS on the 18th and more nervous about scoring well enough on that then getting my remaining A's. I studied probably 30+ hours a week for my A&P 1 A. It can be done but it sure takes a lot of time studying.
