What can you do once you're in your first year of Nursing School?

I read somewhere that you can take your CNA. I also read some hospitals will hire you as well.

What are the different opportunities Nursing school can bring you? (Before graduation)

Not much besides a CNA. Once you complete Nursing Fundamentals and geriatric clinicals, some schools allow you to become CNA certified and you can work as a CNA. As far as a hospital job, that's it, if you can land one as a CNA (that's what I did).

At my college you have to complete both your freshmen and sophmore years befor you can become a CNA, other than that there really isn't any other opertunities that I am aware of.

So is there a test or anything required??? Or is it just understood by hospitals after the first semester??? If so, awesome!!

At least were I am it is required that you sit for the CNA boards other wise you will not be placed on the state registry.

Shaylah, my school requires students to become CNAs before they apply to the nursing program.

To work as a CNA you have to pay a fee and take a CNA licensing test in most states. There's a written portion of the exam and a clinical portion (where you show you can take vitals, make a bed with a patient in it, etc.).

Some school require you have a CNA before applying to nursing school. Others don't.
