I am so upset! I was waitlisted for 3 classes this semester, and I was unable to add a single one! I can't lose a semester! But what choice do I have :( I have no idea what to do! I checked late start classes and they didnt offer the ones I needed in 3 different community colleges. It was a Psych class, A&P, and a Math.. I would like them transferable to a UC, so I doubt I can CLEP anything! Any advice.

have you tried taking online classes? They are actually easier (I think) because you can go at your own pace. I have done really well with online classes. At one point I was taking 3 online classes from 3 different community colleges. Believe there are a lot of community colleges that offer psych and math classes online.

I took A & P in class but I made sure to go see the counselor for advice (sometimes they can help you get in) or email the professor who is teaching that class- I told them how important it was for me to take that class and take I was close to applying for nursing school and I told them how responsible I was as a student and I would not disappoint them. I did not give up until I got into a class. There are so many community colleges...just apply to them and be vigilant on the classes that are offered.

Just be careful on dates and stuff with online classes.

Hi I am new here. Just wanted to tell you that I feel your pain... I tried to get into Anat 1 and I could not. There were only 36 spots, all were taken, 10 people on the waiting list ( i was not one of them :( ....) and 16 people trying to add. The teacher only took 3 people from the waiting list. I was soo disappointed. I feel like this will greatly set me back because I had a planned schedule for all my classes.. Now I will see where I can take Anat 1 for the winter.

At my school, you had to be Johnny on the spot at midnight the day they allow you to register. If you waited until the day *of* registration, as opposed to being up at midnight the night before, all the classes were goners.

Psych and math (and Soc 101) are so generic that almost any taken anywhere will transfer. Look at Rio Salado / Maricopa online. About $625 for 3 credits plus whatever the book costs there, in Jan 2011. You have 8 week or 123 week options.

For A&P, look at the private schools in your area. They will be expensive but they often have seats available.

Sometimes CCs have "flex terms" that open later in the semester, specially courses like Psyc. Ask an advisor.

Have you considered taking them online at other states' CCs? If they're transferable, it could be an option. Like streamline said, they are generic courses.

Definitely try online classes in your state--you can do a search in Google for the class and include the state (in state tuition). Two of the local community colleges in my area don't start classes until end of the month. I put in "online developmental psychology community college ohio" in Google and pulled up about a dozen community colleges with offerings. Good luck!!! I have taken 3 courses online this past year and while they can be easier in terms of doing it on your own time, they can also be challenging with time management.
