Three Bad Things

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I hope that bad things happen in threes because quite frankly I cant take any more.

On May 4 my wife of 24 years died of a pulmonary emboli. It happened so suddenly I didnt even have a chance to say goodbye to her. She herself was in the medical field for over 30 years and helped thousands and thousands of people. She was unquestionably the finest person I have met on this earth and I miss her so much.

Last week I was rushed to the emergency room with an intestinal blockage due to an abdominal hernia. I will be having repair surgery next week.

Yesterday I got a letter from my CC that said that I was put on a wait list despite the fact that I have a gpa of 4.0

Thanks for listening to my problems.

Hi Paul,

I am so very sorry about your wife. Unexpected death is so heartbreaking. My condolences to you. Good luck with your surgery. I pray that you will recover quickly and without problems.

That is so frustrating about being wait-listed with a 4.0 average! Hopefully you are high on the list and will get in. Just keep the phone handy, because they could call the day that classes start! It has happened quite a bit at my school!!

I just wanted to say that you came to the right place. The folks on this site are so very supportive and are good at offering some great advice. I have been on here less than a year and have found so many people that I consider friends, even though I will probably never meet them. It is nice to be able to come on here and vent and share your pain and have someone know exactly what you are going through to be able to offer support.

Keep your chin up and remember: God DOES give us more than we can handle so that we will turn to him for help. He is there waiting for you to ask for help and will ultimately pull you through this difficult time and make you a stronger person and a better nurse for it.

Good luck and let us know how things are going with you, and if you need any advice or help, or even just someone to pray for you, know that it is happening.

:icon_hug: to you!

So sorry to hear about the loss of your wife. My thoughts and prayers are with you as well.

My heart goes out to you, Paul. You will be in my prayers, and I hope you have a speedy recovery from your surgery. :icon_hug:

I'm so sorry Paul. I hope things look up for you here soon....

good lord, why is life so rough!, i'm experiencing rough times, but i feel your pain. people always say everything happens for a reason, sometimes i wonder, oh yeah, whats the reason? all i can say is that yes, indeed everything in life has its place. i'm so sorry to hear whats been happening to you. i'm glad you told us, we're here to lend support. i am positive that with god's help you will, you will be able to withstand these tough times. continue to post and tell us how u feel! you will be in my prayers,!

Wow!!! I'm so sorry about you wife. I hope things get better for you very soon! Wishing you all the best! ((hugs))

I've heard several times that bad things happen in threes. In fact that was over a decade ago. From my experiences 3 has nothing to do with anything because I think I'm way past the 3 mark at this moment. But I do feel one thing. I feel that you've come to the right place for people to help you with the 4th, and 5th and so on if that ends up being so. I don't want to offer you the usual as I feel sometimes it's not exactly what you want to hear. But just know that we are all here to support you and listen to anything you have to say.

This is just so sad. I am so sorry. That's terrible that you are waitlisted with a 4.0 but maybe God wants you to take a break and recover adequately before you start nursing school. You have to recover and be well first. You will eventually get in, don't give up and take the best care of you. LEt me know if I can help in any way.
