Should I take Micro and Physiology in the same semester?

Hi all,

My question is is it possible/doable to take Physiology & Microbiology together? My school slpits up Anatomy & Physiology, and I have taken Anatomy this past spring semester. I would like to take the micro with the pysiology during the Fall semester. I will not be working, but I do have two children. I would have time while they are in school to study. I've heard that these two classes complement each other..has anyone done this and how successful were you? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Im hoping to finish these two so that I would be able to TEAS by the end of the year. :lol2:

Micro and Physiology do kind of compliment each other. However, they won't exactly overlap, though at times, they will. Memorization is going to be the issue. Both will require a fair amount of it.

Personally, I found Micro to be pretty fun. Physiology can be pretty fun too, but there will likely be less (or none) lab time than in Anatomy.

If those are your only classes, I'd think it's doable. If there are other courses also, that could make things a bit of a challenge. It's up to you. You know how you learn and what you're capable of.

I took both Micro and ana/phys 2 (our school doesnt separate, but has a 1 and 2) and I had to drop micro. If you are really dedicated to the two classes its doable, but its not easy. I ended up getting an A in both courses, but if I had not dropped the micro and taken it the next semester I dont believe I would have been able to do that. (I also had a newborn and a 1 year old, so I was busy anyway) I strongly believe getting A's in those courses helped get me into the program, and I was able to Learn rather then straight memorize the material. Good luck!

I took Micro and AP2 the same semester and got an A in micro and a B in AP. I found micro to be so much fun! But, I also had an awesome teacher. There were long days (each class was 2 times a week plus a 3 hr lab for both) but I managed.

Thank You! This will be for the Fall semester and Im still contemplating whether I should attempt this. Out of you guys who did do the combo, Did you work while taking classes..and did that contribute to the diffculty (due to lack of time to study). :D

I am a SAHM of 2. When I took the classes my kids were 4 and 2. I had to stay after classes or go earlier to study and stuff!

@ SunshineDaisy..I will probably do the same. Im a Single momma to two sons 6 & 11..The fact that they are a little older and are in school should help ..Hopefully. Thank you for your help.. I think Im going to go ahead with the classes. After talking with my counsler today Ive decided to give it a try...Wish me Luck!!

If you are not working then GO FOR IT! I did it and received a B in both (very close to A's might i add). It was very challenging but if you prepare yourself for the work load and have good time management it is definitely doable! Keep in mind you will be dedicated to school 5 days a week for sure, especially since your class schedule will probably be 3-4 days a week. Stay focused and surround yourself with a good/dedicated study group and you'll do great!

I did that last term and it was alot of work. It can be done but you have to be focused. Its also alot of information to take in at once. As the the others mentioned parts of the classes do overlap.

Good luck

YAY! Good luck!

I took both A&P2 and Micro in the same semester (as well as human growth) and got As in all three. If you're not working, I think you can do it. Good luck!

I am doing this as well next semester but I am also working 20 hours a week along with it. I'm really nervous but willing to be organized and dedicate all my free time (Fridays-Sun and weeknights) to studying and memorizing. I hope this works! Good luck MonkeyMama
