Pathophysiology☺Spring 2013

Anyone taking patho this semester? Anyone have wisdom to share on the subject?

I, for one, am scared. I'm hoping this sensation will pass, but at the moment it is hanging on tight. I've heard bad things about this class. Mine meets once a week for 3 hours. I have a test in a little over 2 weeks, and the first class isn't until Tuesday. We'll see how that goes. I talked to someone who took patho last semester, and she/he gave me a nervous, freaked out look. Oh, and I have to read the first two chapters by the first class day. And the syllabus, though printed word, sounds intimidating. How can it sound intimidating? I have a feeling this will be harder than A&P.

On a side note, I'm curious to know if your pathophysiology class is part of the nursing school or is a prerequisite. Mine's a prereq.

I really do hope this will be a great semester! Let's help each other out.

I'm taking human pathophysiology, but mine's not a prereq or part of the program. Actually, it's a new class at my school (only in its 3rd semester). The first semester it was offered, they had a bunch of nursing students in there. This semester, they've made it a requirement for radiology students.

I took it because my favorite science instructor (who is also the Dean of Health Sciences) is teaching it. When she talked about it before the summer, she was so enthusiastic, it got me excited for the course. It's being "billed" as a bridge between the science courses and the nursing program that will help students review and apply the information they learned in A&P. We've only had one class (meets once a week for 3 hours) and it was only comprised of A&P review, but I think it's going to become very fascinating very quickly. The textbook is a bear, but I'm really excited about this class.

That sounds really cool! I love being able to take a class by a favorite teacher just because. :)

I'm excited to start on Monday, I've downloaded the lectures and skimmed through the textbook (thinner than my A&P and micro book surprisingly) it seems interesting. good luck to everyone else taking patho this semester, lets all shoot for an A

My book's thin too. Maybe it's the same one? I've been reading the chapter on fluids and electrolytes because we cover that first. I wonder why. I'm actually understanding it better than I did during A&P.

nope we don't have the same book. mine is play and the title is Pathophysiology: A Clinical Approach. just finished reading the chapter on altered cells and tissues, it's really interesting to me, I think I'm going to like this class :)

Me. I've only read the first chapter but I really like the book so far. I debated on whether or not to get the optional study guide for it. I can't decide if it would be a waste of money or if I would really benefit from it.

I have to read Chapters 1-3 before class Friday.. Starting to get assignments and school hasn't started yet.
