nursing interview questions

i just finished my last year of pre reqs, and i have a lot of interviews for nursing programs coming up. does anyone have any advice, and or what types of questions they might ask. one i know will be "why do you want to be a nurse"? what kind of answer are they looking for...i mean honestly im not quite sure what drives me to want to be a nurse, i just do. anyway, if anyone has any advice please let me know.

if you cannot answer the question why you want to be a nurse, you will have a tough time getting through the interview. it is a straightforward question, nothing tricky about it. have you done volunteer work in a hospital? that will help you figure it out and the experience will help you verbalize your desire. good luck, it is good you are asking this question.

I keep a file with a list of potential interview questions for that first job out of nursing school. Feel free to copy and print it. Please, please, please make sure you ask about what your orientation and preceptors will be like. Ask about the staffing turnover on the floor you will end up working. Get the idea out into discussion of what your options will be if your worst fear, that you are slow in getting oriented, occurs so you will know exactly how it will be handled and you have already opened up the doors to communication on this. I am sure you know why you want to be a nurse. They are looking for qualities you possess, and demonstrate you are capable and prepared to be one. Support your answer with evidence such as hospital volunteer, do you work in the medical field? Kind of grades earned this past year, where you plan to be in a few years, etc

It rox, I had a interview yesterday and 90% of the questions fall into this list.

Louisiana Tech stopped interviewing for admission to the program. I kind of breathed a sigh of relief but I'm wondering how that'll affect my chances of getting in. I have a 3.7 GPA and will end up with a 3.8 by the end of this year hopefully (my senior year). I'm graduating a year early and took A&P I with the lab the summer after my sophomore year. I got a 3.0 in the Lecture and a 2.0 in the Lab...(I am just now taking basic biology in high school.) I had a composite score of 26 on the ACT and a subscore of 32 on English but a 18 in math . I'm taking the NLN next Friday...but from what I've said do ya'll think I have any chance of getting in? They have 35-45 seats open each Fall and Spring quarter and an alumni of the program said they have over 300 applications coming in. What I was getting at (finally...lol) is that I don't know if that will hurt my chances because I don't have much to distinguish myself from the other applicants. Thanks in advance for any advice.

my interview, they had me write a essay, stating why should i be considered in the program, what qualities i had that would make me a good nurse.

and also verbaly asked me why nursing?

Me: new grad RN. The homework continues: checking employers and positions on-line, then came here to :nurse:allnurses:nurse: where there is always an answer. Invariably, I find you, Daytonite, with the consummate answer. You are a diamond, ever strong for the nurse in need, and of the finest grade.

Thank you so much for the interview help!!! I don't graduate until Dec. but the interview is the one thing I am freaked out about. Interviews are not my area of expertise. Anyone else who has advise I would love to hear it.
