I talked to a friend yesterday who is on the nursing board at my school that has a ASN program. He said that because so many people applied this year that the people that apply in January (thats me) have no way of getting in and will be put on a waiting list right off the bat. :crying2: These lotto systems are drving me crazy!!! I did not work my butt off to get a 4.0 pre-req GPA and a 3.5 over all GPA to have the same chance as that guy that barley comes to class with a 2.0.....any one else feel my frustration? How do you help yourself from getting depressed?Atleast the BSN program I am also applying to looks at grades and past experience...but they are impacted too...I feel like I will never get to be a midwife because I will be too old by the time I even get into a nursing program!!

Sorry I just had to vent!

Don't give up, and don't give into what someone else says. Even if you do get put on a list, you never know how many people will actually be able to take their seat right now.

How are they going to do the list? By grades?

Even if you don't get in this time, DON'T GIVE UP! I know it would be hard to deal with knowing people with a C average got in before you, but that's just the way some schools do it. You'd be glad if that applied to you.

I know that doesn't make it better. You are still very young, and have plenty of time. DON'T GIVE UP!

Good luck in the ADN or BSN program. Let us know what happens. :) I know it is disappointing, but just consider it a possible detour, not a dead end.

190 people applied for 20 seats (20 for people on the previous list and 20 for new students...this is the first time they had so many people apply).

The list goes by, if you can pass your pre-req's with a C average you get put into the hat with every one else. Your name is draw and you get a #, the next name is drawn and they get the following number down the list....

I know I am young and I never give up, but it is still frustrating!:sniff:

Just think, during NS yu'll get the best free health check-ups, and quite often too, for an 80 year old!

It's so frustrating that with the "shortage" people who have the passion you obviously have can't get in quick enough. Hang in there. :)

Don't get depressed. I agree with Fun2care. I too know it is easier said than done. Also, rumors are just that until the "Real news is out" . I sense you will be back posting good news.

Good luck:)

I completley feel your fustration!! At the schools I am applying to they take about 10% San Francisco state for example got 800 applicants and only accepted 80!! It is sooooo depressing! But like everyone else said - DON'T GIVE UP!! At one school I talked to they put about 50 people on a waiting list but due to the school getting more money they accepted all of them. Unfortunantly some of them gave up and didn't file the rest of their paperwork!! If they had they would have been accepted. This just goes to show that it is possible!! I am also applying for schools right now and it is very stressful - all of the schools here are impacted!! I also don't think it is fair that the people who work so hard to get a 4.0 get just as much of a chance as those people who got C's!!!! Just remember dont' give up - you've worked this hard you can make it!! Good luck!! :)

Keep your hopes up! I switched majors then worked my butt off to get all my pre-reqs got good grades and still got put on a waiting list for an entire year b/c they accept the freshman who came in as BSN majors before they consider transfers/switching majors. I hated it at first but now im glad that i got to take classes to finish a bio minor and to take alot of classes that pertained to health, I have a much bigger knowledge base than alot of my classmates! It will all work out in the end! *Everything Happens for a Reason*
