new year resolution

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

My resolution is to have a 4.0 GPA this year with prerequisites. What are your?

Anybody have suggestions or stories of how they managed a 4.0 while working full time and be a mom?

Specializes in Dialysis.

I worked full time, raised 2 sons (ages 7&8 at the time) ex did not pay support or participate in their upbringing. I was 4 hours from nearest family. Depended on the best of friends and a sitter for everything. Felt guilt out the wazoo. Missed so much through prereqs and nursing school. But graduated with a solid 4.0 from nursing program. Regrets? Yes I missed so much early on working. But then again no, because I was able to provide later on. And I taught them that you have to work hard for what you get. Earn it, no one is going hand it to you on a silver platter!

Specializes in PICU, CICU.

In my past experiences, the students with families and etc typically were the ones who earned better grades for the most part because they knew they had a lot on their plate yet they worked extra hard on their grades as a result (as some point it becomes ok i need to do this rather than man there's a lot I'm dealing with).

Personally, my goals are to keep a 3.8 or above in my first quarter of nursing, become a Nurse Tech after my first quarter.

I'm just nervous because this is my first time going to school both working full time and being a mom. Before I failed the LPN program I only worked part time and no kids.

Dang. I'm glad you made it. That had to be stressful.

Good goal(s). Congratulations on getting into nursing program and good luck.

I work two jobs and am in school with a family. You HAVE to set time aside for school. I feel like I missed too much of my family this semester, but at the end of the day something has to give. I remind myself that I am only one person and that I cannot fail my class, I cannot quit my job, so I have to then rely on others to help with the family side of things. Thankfully I have a hubby (who because I work 2 jobs) is able to stay at home with the kids. We are POOOOOOOOOR and are behind on a few bills, but the mortgage is paid, lights and heat are on, and food is on the table. To me that is all anyone can ask of me right now.

Oh and my resolution is to WIN the lotto!!!

Oh and my resolution is to WIN the lotto!!!

If you do share with me  as long as you have lights and food thats doing good.

I'm ready for the challenge just nervous about ajusting my study habits to my new schedule

My resolution is to make it through my 1st semester of pre reqs with a 4.0, I work full time & have a very busy life, but I'm fully committed as this is something I've wanted to do for quite some time.

I will finish my A.A and get accepted into a nursing program in 2016!! Those are my academically related goals for the new year!

Good luck to both of you
